As they race to return to the real world, they are met with their final obstacle: The Queen of Hearts, aka Mira (Minako Kotobuki).

According to Yamazaki, season 2 delves deeper into the characters and their purpose on earth, exploring themes like life, living, and survival. The extreme circumstances of the games have brought Arisu and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) closer together, as they help and trust each other in order to survive.

In the final round, Arisu and Usagi must defeat the Queen of Hearts, but the task is far from easy. As the game reaches its climax, twists and turns lead to an ending that leaves our heroes in a dangerous predicament. Find out what happens in this thrilling conclusion to the second season of Alice in Borderland.

Alice in Borderland: A Triumph Turned Tragedy in the Finale

The final battle with the King of Spades resulted in a victory for Arisu and his friends, but not without consequences. Several team members, including Kuina (Aya Asahina), Ann (Ayaka Miyosh), Aguni (Shô Aoyagi), and Heiya (Yuri Tsunematsu) were left gravely injured. Chishiya (Nijirô Murakami) also suffered a gunshot wound, and Niragi (Dori Sakurada), despite being shot himself, refuses to die.

As the Queen of Hearts blimp ominously hovers overhead, Arisu and a wounded Usagi are tasked to face her in a pristine garden. The challenge they face: three rounds of croquet, with the objective to simply make it through without quitting.

The task may sound easy, but the team's current state and the appearance of something sinister hint at a much greater challenge ahead.

As Arisu progresses through the rounds of the game, a sinister turn begins to emerge. Mira starts to manipulate the situation, delaying the game and inviting Arisu and Usagi to have tea. Despite their initial reluctance, Arisu falls for Mira's trap and begins to believe her false stories about what has happened to the real world.

She convinces him that the games are merely a manifestation of his imagination, a coping mechanism for the trauma of losing his friends in a car accident. This leads Arisu to question the purpose of his life and sink deeper into the delusion that he is in a hospital receiving psychiatric treatment from Mira, his doctor.

Usagi, who is wounded and needs medical attention, becomes a mere background player as Arisu becomes further entrenched in Mira's lies. The closer Arisu gets to accepting the reality Mira presents, the further he moves away from completing the final round of croquet and finding a way out of the game.

Arisu and Usagi's Declarations of Love and Return to Reality

Usagi's attempts to convince Arisu to snap out of his hypnotic state prove to be futile, with all of her efforts falling on deaf ears. However, a desperate situation arises when Usagi is forced to cut her own wrist in a bid to get Arisu to save her. The sight of Usagi bleeding profusely and in need of assistance finally shakes Arisu out of his trance-like state, just in the nick of time as Mira was close to convincing him to "quit the game" and give in to the delusion.

As Arisu and Usagi express their feelings for one another, Arisu expresses his deep desire to protect Usagi and to live life together. "I simply want you to live, Usagi. I want to protect you," he says with a sense of conviction and concern in his voice, despite Usagi's continued bleeding from another wound. Their outpouring of affection for each other is enough to bring them back to reality and out of the illusionary hospital facilities they were previously trapped in.

Mira, who had been orchestrating the game, is moved to tears by their love and devotion to each other and continues the game without any more delays, ultimately conceding defeat. The game that follows is tinged with a melancholic sadness, with Arisu and Usagi both trying to come to terms with the strange and mysterious place they find themselves in.

Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding their surroundings, Arisu and Usagi's love for each other remains a constant and provides them with the strength and resilience to persevere. As the game comes to a close, Arisu asks Mira one final time what this place is that they have ended up in. The answer to this question may hold the key to unlocking the mysteries surrounding their situation, but for now, Arisu and Usagi's love for each other provides them with the comfort and stability they need in this strange and uncertain world.

After Mira's death, the games come to an end and the surviving players are given a choice. They can either accept permanent residency in the mysterious land and become citizens, effectively becoming replacements for the previous gamemasters. Or, they can decline and face an unknown fate.

Arisu, Usagi, Kuina, Chishiya, Aguni, and Heiya all choose to decline the offer. Even the heinous Niragi refuses. However, Banda and Yaba opt to become citizens, hinting at their potential role as gamemasters in a future season.

The fate of the remaining players remains uncertain.

Do the participants in Alice in Borderland eventually make it back to reality?

It appears that the aftermath of the meteorite impact has left a lasting impact on all survivors. Upon awakening in the hospital, they all bear scars and injuries of various severity, including Ann who is in a coma, clinging to life. The fact that they all had their hearts stop for one minute during the disaster is the only commonality they share.

The meteorite event had also wiped out their memories of the game land and their relationships with one another, leading to a sense of familiarity when Arisu and Usagi cross paths once again. Despite this, they choose to stroll through the hospital gardens and the grand and inspiring music adds to the illusion of a somewhat happy ending for them. Although not perfect, they are at least back home.

Interpretation of the Joker Card in Alice in Borderland

The Joker card in the Alice in Borderland series has significant implications, suggesting that the players have entered into the dangerous phase three of the games without being aware of it. The Joker is often referred to as the wild card and its presence implies unpredictability, adding to the uncertainty of what challenges the players will face. In card games, the Joker can take on the characteristics of other cards, meaning it could represent a dangerous challenge they've faced before or a completely new form of peril. Regardless, it is likely to be the toughest

The conclusion of Season 2 of Alice in Borderland shows Arisu and Usagi successfully defeating the Queen of Hearts, but not without suffering consequences. The game's final round leads to a sinister twist and Arisu is trapped in an illusionary hospital. Usagi's bleeding finally shakes Arisu out of the trance and they express their love for each other, bringing them back to reality. Despite the strange and mysterious circumstances, their love remains constant and provides them with the strength to persevere. The games end with the survivors given a choice, but the answer to the question of what the place they ended up in is still remains a mystery.

The moral of the story is that love and devotion to each other can provide strength and resilience in uncertain circumstances. This is shown through Arisu and Usagi's relationship in the finale of Season 2 of Alice in Borderland, where their love helps them snap out of a hypnotic state and bring them back to reality. The love for each other remains a constant and provides comfort in a strange and mysterious world.
