Hello. My name is Adhira, and if you are reading this, I am most assuredly dead. If you are the one who killed me, your wounds are no doubt fatal, but I do hope you live long enough to read what you have started, as my words are invaluable to your kind. This entry is of my one and only experience with killing a human child, at least with my own hands. If you are weak of stomach, I would suggest you read a different entry, such as one of my cookbooks.
It was early morning, mid-Autumn. I was in human form, walking to town to find my next meal source and any news or gossip flying off the tongues of the townsfolk. The air was damp, and even though I am not susceptible to the cold, I usually know what humans would call cold, but that day was different. I felt a bitterness in my bones. I assumed this is how humans feel before piling on fur clothing. I chastised myself for not wearing a coat, as I most likely would raise suspicions. My thoughts were interrupted by a whimper. At first, I thought it an injured wolf or dog and was surprised to find a child chained by the neck to a tree. I thought this odd as there were no tribes brave enough to live in my woods, and as far as I had seen, people did not treat each other like outside pets. The child looked to be around three years of age and wore nothing more than cloth wrapped around his waist and tied in a knot on one side. The child had hair all over his body, more than I have seen on a full-grown man. It was fairly short, and silver. It flowed like hair when the wind blew, but it looked as if it were made of pure silver. The child did not look as if to be affected by the cold. Everything about this thing seemed to be different than anything I had ever learned about human children. I only took a few moments to look this thing over, as it odd to me, and at my age, I did not see many oddities. In the end, to grant it mercy, due to it amusing me longer than any human ever had. Not having heard, seen, or smelled another human, I transformed into my half form. Stretching out my fore finger and unleashing a claw I took one swipe downward. Slicing through the skull, chain, rib cage, and every organ along the way. I sliced a little to the left of center, in the hopes to slice through the heart, I was trying to be merciful after all and wanted to make sure I killed it as quickly as possible. Knowing I had relieved myself of a potential future threat, I changed back to full human form and continued on my way.
My time in town was nothing unusual. I located my next meal, visited the town crier and taverns for news and stories, the humans are quite good at telling stories, some are even about me. I chatted with a cook about something called sausage. I tried making some when I got home, it tasted fine to me, but I feel as though I made it wrong. The interesting part of my trip was when I arrived back to my home.
Seven days had passed when I returned to where I had left the body of the child I so mercifully released from bondage. As I approached the area, I saw the chain and the grass which had been stained crimson however, I saw no body. At first, I assumed the body had been carried away and eaten, then I realized, there were no tracks. Well, there tracks obviously, I saw deer and rabbit and boar tracks. But there were no tracks of a body being dragged, or from scuffling feet as the body was ripped apart. Even at my age, my vision is impeccable, I can follow a three-day old trail of an ant in grass as tall as a rabbit, but I could not see any tracks indicating what happened to the body of this child. That was twice this child had piqued my interest, but I had important things to do and had to continue on my way home.
When I arrived home, something felt off again. Everything looked normal until I walked into my cave. In my sleeping chamber, there was a small mass lying on the floor, and it was not there when I left!
Oh drat, it would seem as though I have run out of paper. I must remember to get more to finish this tale!
