Adeline walked quietly as she left the pub and her friends behind.

Lost in her thoughts and a world of her own, she didn’t pay much attention to her surroundings, little wonder she didn’t notice the dark shadowy figure trailing behind her.

She walked quietly, humming Prince’s ‘purple rain’ to herself, swinging as she went. As she made to turn onto the next block, a cold hand grabbed her from behind and quietly snatched her off the street into the open door.

Adeline kicked, scratched and tried t scream but to no avail. She was a small petite woman whose struggle could barely scratch the surface of the giant-like man who had grabbed her.

Who was he, what did she do, were her friends right about warning her not to leave the pub alone… most importantly, where was she and what do they want with her? All these questions flooded her mind at the same time. If only she could see where she was or even the face of her captor, maybe she could make sense of it all. This can’t be happening to her. She can’t be a case of one of those missing persons on TV just like that and they seem to be walking for eternity.

She felt dizzy from being thrown over the guy's shoulder for very long that she passed out only to wake up in a large room, on a bed and when she meant to move, she realized her arms and legs were tied to the holders on the bed. She tried to scream but could barely make a sound as she was too weak and suddenly the lights came on.

Adeline went from feeling so many emotions at once – from shock to anger. Damien, she screamed, what the hell is going on here, what am I doing here, tied to your bed?

He looked at her with cold eyes, unresponsive still.

She made to repeat her questions again when he stood up fiercely, walked to the bedside and said, “Look what you made me do Adeline, see how insane you drive me, why would you not just give yourself to me willingly and put me out of my misery?

Adeline became calm, for she was certain that Damien won’t harm her. He was just a man in love, who for fear of losing her to a more prominent suitor have taken the laws unto his hands. But he didn’t have to because she had decided on her own whilst leaving the pub that she was going to break her father’s rule and give herself to Damien before any legal ceremony would be done by other suitors and she is forcefully hitched against her will to some random man.

It was not like Damien was her dream husband, far from it. But amongst all the current suitors asking for her hand in marriage, she’ll rather be married to someone she’s known all her life, someone she’s grown to call a friend and one who she was sure genuinely loved her, unlike the other men whom she wasn’t so sure their intentions to marry her were borne out of genuine affection but for the sole purpose of having the heiress to that many lands and flocks as their – a case of conquest to speak off.

Adeline looked at Damien with warm eyes as she spoke, “Can you please get these off from me, they hurt. Moreover, there’s no need for it, I already decided to do your bidding and put my father’s worries to rest.”

Damien was taken aback by her words as he hurriedly untied her wrist, his hands warm and shaking. It was at that moment she realized that he wasn’t the one who whisked her off the road last night, it must have been one of his many guards.

In a few seconds, she was free from the ropes that held her to the bed against her will and she hissed a sigh of relief. Damien went on his knees and apologized for taking off the road in such a manner and for causing her such a scare. He further explained that he was running out of options and was so scared her father would give her hand in marriage to another man since she had passed the deadline of introducing one of her ci=hosen to her as he requested.

But would her father accept him?

Damien is mostly looked upon as a man of unjust affairs by many even though it is not entirely true and her father, being a man of good repute has always had his reservations towards him.

Sensing his thoughts, Adeline held his hands in a reassuring manner and told him she had a plan. Something that would leave her father with no choice but to give his consent to their union. She explained further how she had visited the medicine woman who had assured her that she will be with child should she lay with Damien within 48 hours and that was why she left her friends in the pub to come to him.

Damien was shocked but glad as was evident in his smile. He didn’t think Adeline considered him a better suitor than all the honourable men queuing in line to have her as their wife. He felt a warm sense of belonging and it makes his heart rest easy – the girl of his dreams is going to be his. What more can any man ask for?

Adeline returned to the bedroom smelling like a freshly bloomed rose in a garden and he couldn’t wait to feel her and yet, here she was, arms stretched, inviting.

He kissed her softly, trailing his fingers down her neck as her breath became rasped.

She gave a soft cry of pain as he drove into her, breaking her hymen. It was at that moment that Damien realized that he was her first, and an overwhelming sense of possession came over him. This woman was his, she gave herself willingly to him and he’d give up his life to protect her at all costs.

Adeline wrapped her legs around him and with one swift move, she arched up her waist and drove him in. They both gave a loud moan as he sank into her.
