Adam & Eve Origin Drabble
A Joke from the Soviet times
An Englishman, a Frenchman, and a Russian stand in a museum looking at a painting of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
The Englishman looks at the pair and says, "Look at their sadness and restraint. They must be British."
The Frenchman shakes his head and says, "Nonsense. They are naked and look so beautiful. Clearly, they are French."
The Russian studies the painting for a moment and says, "They have no clothes, no shelter, and only one apple to share between them. Worst of all, they are being told they live in Paradise. They are definitely Russian."
Author's note: I was reminded of this joke by the Internet today and it brought some memories. I heard it for the first time during the late Soviet period as a satire on Soviet life. But it can apply to today's war-crazed Russia as well. Funny how the history made a full spiral.
