Abandoned Dead: Return to Carver High School
Sequel To Abandoned Dead by Jax Wolf
Mark's breath was shallow as he approached the tree line.
"It's through there." Mark pointed the way to Sheriff Wilson.
"What exactly were you boys doing out here?" Sheriff Wilson said with his deep twang.
"Just Exploring." Link piped up.
The leaves were crunching beneath the soles of their shoes as they left the Sheriff's cruiser and approached the school where they left Kyle behind.
He stood up straight and took in a deep breath of autumn air. "You boys aren't playing a prank on me, now are ya?" Sheriff groaned as he tried to pull his belt over his fast food belly.
"No sir, there's a killer in there. And the body of our friend, Kyle." Mark retorted.
"Through those doors." Link pointed to the gym doors and nudged Mark.
As he reached for his holster he said, "Stay behind me three paces, boys."
His cowboy hat was large enough to block the view as they approached the ominous abandoned school. The same rusty blue doors to the gym were cracked open as if they had an invitation and were expected. Sheriff Wilson slowly creaked open the door as they took their first few steps back into the haunting gym. Bats slept across the ceiling, rafters, and backboards. They slowly moved across the floor trying not to awaken them.
They had to walk carefully as to not accidentally kick basketballs scattered across the floor. In front of the hallway doors sat Kyle's bike as if he was taunting them.
After moving the bike, Sheriff Wilson has his sidearm drawn. He raised it in front of him as he was moving side to side down the lockers.
"This is the classroom where we found the dead guy." Link alerted him.
The Sheriff peeks into the classroom window and sees nobody.
"Where?" He asked.
Link looks through the same window and sees an empty class room.
"He was here!"
Mark creaked open the door. "He's gone!"
"SHH" Sheriff reminded us. We needed to sneak up on this guy.
"Here in the bathroom is where Kyle was." Mark pointed toward the men's room.
They quietly opened the bathroom door only to see a blood stain on the floor. Kyle was gone.
"Where did he take him?"
As they sneak out the bathroom, the hallway was clear. The tile was dirty, broken, and old. Lockers were rusted and some cracked open. All that was left behind were the ghosts of grades that came in and out of the school.
We reached the corner of the hall.
With his back to the wall, Sheriff Wilson put his finger to his lips. He slowly turns and creeps around the corner.
Within a blink of an eye, a machete flies through the air. The Sheriff was cut across his cheek. He shoved the man against the wall where he dropped the machete. With quick thinking, Link grabbed the machete and swung at the suspect. He grabbed Link's wrist and elbowed him in the face. The blade hit the tile and within a second was back in his hand. In this attack, the evil man had grabbed Sheriff's gun as well.
Through his bloody teeth he grinned, "Welcome back. You're just in time for dinner." With a laugh, He led them down the hallway. "This way, My friends."
He is dragging the blade of the machete down the brick wall. A high pitch squeal comes from the point of the blade
"I haven't had company in a long time. I'll be sure to make you something extra special."
They came upon another set of double doors at the end of the hall labeled, "Cafeteria".
With a chuckle he states, "Ah, we made it to the dining room".
