A Second Chance at Love

Love can hurt or heal the heart

Harry and Abby

Abby was sure that love wasn't for her. She had been rejected and disgraced by the one she loved before, and she had no intention of going through that kind of hurt again. It wasn't worth it. Love was not on her agenda any longer. She has from this time refused to go closer to any man no matter what could bring them together. Love to her was a fraud and no man was to be loved.

But then she met Harry, a good-looking, tall but a simple young man. He was kind and gentle, and he wasn't scared of Abby's dreams. He supported her, even when her ideas were far-fetched. He liked her for who she was, and he wanted her to be the most excellent version of herself.

Harry was the direct opposite of Andy, who was rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. Despite his education and status, he has never achieved anything without others' assistance or intervention. His character has always been a limiting factor in all his endeavors.

It was this same attitude that made Abby hate men in general and vow never to love them again. She has endured a lot at Andy's hands. The climax was when the two were out on a date and Andy suddenly began to display his offensive attitude again.

This time, he shouted at Abby in a public place, slapped her, and tore her dress. She was almost naked thanks to some goodwill passers-by who intervened and saved Abby from his anger fit.

When Abby left him that day, she made up her mind never to have contact with a man again. She has never paid attention to any man again. She lived her life in pain and misery, as her heart was broken by the one, she loved.

This was her situation until fate brought Harry to her path. They met for the first time at a party in Abby’s family compound. Friends of the family and her brother's classmates have been invited to the party.

Abby initially did not want to attend the party. However, her brothers pleaded with her to join them in serving some special guests. Among these guests was one who caught Abby’s attention. Despite his looks, he was polite and simple in speaking and everything about him was different.

While the others came in their most stylish outfits, Harry was dressed in simple trousers and a t-shirt. However, it was not the cheap type that ordinary people wear. He was simple in all his ways and honored Abby's presence when she attended to them.

Abby found herself falling in love with him, but it was not easy for her to get rid of the old wound left by Andy’s actions. She tried as much as she could to forget but the more, she did the more pain she felt.

Slowly, love grew in her again and conquered her hurt. Abby allowed herself to open up to the idea of love, and then she fell in love with Harry. They grew closer and closer every day, and soon, they were inseparable.

Abby realized quickly that Harry was her second chance at love. She couldn't believe she had been lucky to get a second chance, especially with someone as wonderful as Harry.

Some may say that it was a stroke of luck that Abby and Harry met, but Abby was aware it was more than that. She knew it was the universe's way of giving her a second chance at love. She also knew that it was giving her another opportunity to find happiness and joy.

And, with that knowledge, Abby opened her heart to Harry's love. And from then on, she never looked back.
