"Evil cannot be allowed to walk hither and tither in the Earth unchecked." (Art created with Night Café Studios)

An Intense Dream:

I dreamed of an Indian Chief standing on a desert plain alone. Dreaming in the haze of unreality, I blinked to ensure this was no mirage rippling into existence on the dry, cracked earth beneath him. Convinced that this vision had taken form, I began walking toward him.

As I approached, he tilted his head backward, cupping his hand to the side of his mouth, and made a cry in the back of his throat. The sound caught in the wind, sizzling into the sky, and an Eagle descended to him lighting on his outstretched arm.

For a split second, I saw from the perspective of the chief that he had seen from a distance through the eyes of this eagle that an evil spirit had arrived. It, too was walking toward him, as an outstretched shadow in the radiating heat.

As we locked eyes he shared with me, in the vision of this magnificent bird, that the approaching evil posed a threat to all mankind. Still, for the moment, the evil spirit had come to his time, for his people!

As a warrior prince it had fallen to his charge to keep the evil at bay as long as one man could, and he ran then, to lock arms in battle.

But when he arrived at the point where the shadow should have been, the evil had faded into a small, abandoned house made of hand-hewed logs sitting alone in this desolate place.

I followed him inside where we were to engage the evil spirit, but for a long time, he and I were alone. I don't know how, but somehow I understood that the evil spirit was excited about the Indian Chief. It was drawn to his sense of honor with a giggling will to destroy it!

It had become intrigued by the honorable man. So much so, that it elected to tarry a while. Little did it know that the chief had the skill to bind it to that shack if only for a time to save his people for a short season.

The evil shadow slowly materialized and smiled at me as he stood at the mantle near a fireplace in this old abandoned shack. He was a white man with big, round eyes - light blue and blazing like an electric flame. He was beautiful to behold. He had a charismatic smile, jet black hair and a natural entrancing beauty.

He began pacing around the Indian Chief, laughing and smiling as though there would be no chance of holding him off. Before he engaged the enemy, the proud Chieftain tightened his grip on the handle of a very long knife and told me that he was going to hold the evil spirit as long as he could but that no man could completely stop it. That was a matter for the Gods.

When I asked why he was throwing his life away on such a futile cause, he said:

"Because, little daughter, it is people like you and I who must keep evil at bay. We are chosen to do so, and it must fall to us TO do so. Evil cannot be allowed to walk hither and tither in the Earth unchecked. We must fight for those who cannot, if only for a season. The time will come when good men can no longer effect the matters of the Spirit World".

As he said this, he charged the evil thing that had manifested itself. They grappled for what seemed an eternity, and once the evil spirit realized he could not defeat the chieftain, he disappeared... his last words electrified as he faded

"The world of men can hold no sway! I shall return in vengeance!"

... But I think we can take him!

Crazy stuff. I love dreams like this. The ones where you wake up and wonder WTF was that all about. Prophetic or not, it feels like it does have a deeper meaning. Thanks for sharing this. And Happy New year to you, Veronica. Good to see a post from you.

I love that your story started in a dream and that the hero was such a wise and courageous, good leader. We need more of them in this world!

  • Whoaaaa, this was soooo intense and the sense of impending doom was so strong! Loved your story! Hope you're doing well though. You've been missing for so long!

Veronica, good to see you back here! But also, was this a dream? It had that quality to it for sure. I have intense dreams too. I thought this was excellent.

Well-wrought! Evil, insofar as I can tell, finds its way in at those points where we most automate our lives. We must heighten consciousness from animal impulse to pure intention to turn away evil and invite good into our lives. No easy feat, but I agree with the chief that it can be done!
