Short story - A tangled web.
It is quite fascinating to unfold the love triangle of two wonderful characters, who were sisters fell in love with the same partner at different points in his youthful life. It is unfortunate for him, because he did not know the two ladies were biologically bonded. This love relationship started to develop into serious physical encounters, and in some case conflicts, which created a scene with lots of actions at a party and caused an exciting brawl that seemed like a tangled web that could hardly be unwound.
Prince is an intriguing personality, an average student at South Hampton High School; he was very much involved in his classwork. He was a kinesthetic learner who had a special interest in the field of mechanics and hopes to be an engineer in the distant future. He grew up in a poor community where the socio-economic conditions did not favor fast upward mobility. He did not achieve all his educational objectives; as his options were few, so he chose to learn to drive, and in no time, he became a taxi driver.
Prince was a taxi driver who was businesslike, handsome, kind, sport-loving, and smart. He had a strong physical structure, was caring, and had a vested interest in young ladies. Prince has a quiet, cool, cat-like attitude, which makes his appearance attractive and his demeanor unassuming and poised to face any tumultuous situation without being daunted by any flare of negative behavior. He looks like a "prince," as he was called; everyone was fond of his work as a taxi driver. He treated all customers with dignity as he chauffeured passengers happily as his job, around the communities and towns in the route, he traveled daily.
Prince never imagined that the quiet roads he drove each day would lead him into the most complicated season of his life. Every morning before sunrise, he washed his taxi until it gleamed beneath the pale light. The people in the community admired him—not only because he was handsome and strong but also because he treated everyone with respect. Old women trusted him with their market bags.
Though life had not given Prince many opportunities, he carried himself with dignity. At South Hampton High School, he had dreamed of becoming an engineer. He loved machines and could repair almost anything with wheels. But poverty forced him to abandon those dreams early, and driving became his survival still,Prince never complained.
One rainy evening, he met Alicia. She entered his taxi wearing a blue dress and carrying a stack of books against her chest. She was lively and intelligent and possessed a smile that could soften the hardest day. During the ride, they spoke about music, sports, and dreams. Before she left, she asked for his number. Their friendship blossomed quickly into romance.
Alicia loved Prince’s kindness and determination. Prince admired her ambition and fiery spirit. They spent weekends together at football matches, roadside restaurants, and moonlit beaches. Soon everyone in town whispered that Prince had finally found true love.
But life was quietly preparing a storm. Several months later, Prince arrived alone at the annual Summer Lights Party held at the community club because Alicia claimed she was visiting relatives out of town. The club overflowed with music, flashing lights, and dancing bodies.
That was where he met Vanessa;Vanessa was elegant, mysterious, and older than Alicia by two years. She approached the prince confidently after noticing him seated near the bar.
“You look too serious for a party,” she teased.Prince laughed. “Maybe I’m waiting for someone interesting.”By the end of the night, they danced together repeatedly. Vanessa was fascinated by Prince’s gentle nature, while Prince was drawn to her maturity and charm. What began as casual conversations slowly turned into secret meetings.
The problem was that Prince had no idea Vanessa and Alicia were sisters.
The sisters have been separated emotionally for years after family disagreements and rarely attend events together. Alicia never spoke about her family, and Vanessa never mentioned her younger sister.
For weeks, Prince unknowingly balanced both relationships. Alicia noticed his growing distance, while Vanessa became increasingly possessive. Tension tightened like a rope ready to snap. Then came the night everything exploded. At another crowded party, Prince stood near the dance floor when Alicia arrived unexpectedly. Moments later, Vanessa entered through the opposite door. Both women froze when they saw the prince embracing the other. The music seemed to stop.“Alicia?” Vanessa whispered in disbelief.
“You know her?” Prince asked nervously. Alicia’s face darkened. “That’s my sister.” The revelation hit Prince like thunder. Anger erupted instantly. Accusations flew across the room. Alicia shoved Vanessa; Vanessa retaliated by throwing a drink. Guests screamed and rushed aside as the sisters fought fiercely in the center of the club. Tables overturned, bottles shattered, and security guards struggled to separate them.
Prince stood trapped in the chaos, feeling as though he had fallen into a tangled web impossible to escape from.
“You played both of us!” Alicia cried.“I didn’t know!” Prince shouted desperately. But emotions had already consumed the night. After the scandal, Prince withdrew from both sisters. He focused entirely on his taxi business, working longer hours and avoiding parties altogether. Weeks passed in painful silence. One afternoon, while repairing his taxi beneath a mango tree, Alicia approached him quietly.“I know you didn’t mean for this to happen,” she admitted softly.
Prince sighed. “I cared about both of you in different ways, but I never wanted to hurt anyone.”Unknown to them, Vanessa had followed behind. She listened silently before stepping forward.
The sisters exchanged long, uncomfortable stares before finally laughing at the absurdity of the situation. Years of buried resentment suddenly felt childish compared to the disaster they had created.Though neither sister reunited romantically with Prince, the strange love triangle repaired their broken family bond. Alicia and Vanessa slowly rebuilt their relationship, while Prince learned a valuable lesson about honesty, timing, and the unpredictable nature of love.
As for Prince, he continued driving through the busy streets each day—older, wiser, and still carrying the quiet charm that made everyone call him “Prince.”
