Her parents were bothered that someone would see her and fear, so they made her pledge to keep her flying a secret.

One day, while she was playing in a field, Piper was spotted by a group of kids from her academy. At first, the kids were scarified, but as they watched Piper fly, they realized that she was something amazing.

The townspeople were divided in their opinions about Piper. Some saw her as a wonder, a gift from the welkin. Others saw her as a peril, a precursor of disaster. Piper did not know what to make of it all. She was just a girl who could fly.

One day, a mysterious man appeared in city, claiming to be from a academy for kids with special abilities. He told Piper that she wasn't alone, that there were other kiddies like her, and that they could help her control her ability.
