Rosy’s ready for bed. It’s been a long, hard day. She locks the door of the bar behind her and commences her fifteen minute walk home.

Exhausted, especially in these shoes. Why she thought it a good idea to wear her red stiletto heels, while gifting her height with an extra six inches, they murder her feet after standing in them for eight hours.

Dragging herself down the dark alleyway she suddenly hears footsteps rushing up behind her. Heels or no heels she takes off at a sprint, heroically outrunning her would-be stalker, making it home in record time.

This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'inches'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful idea in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Oof, thank God she made it back home safely. I love stilettos, especially red ones. They also double into a murder weapon when needed hehehehehe
