Now he laid, stretched and still, in a spreading pool of blood. Which smelt awfully good to be honest.

They’d seen it all of course.

The shattered window. The man with the knife. The bold confrontation by their friend.

A top bloke, who’d left them alone for the most part and was generous with his morsels of food. All you could ask for really.

“How do we manage this?” the cockroach asked his buddy the rat. “There’s an awful lot of him to clean up.”

“Well…”, the rat scratched it’s whiskers looking thoughtful. “One bite at a time I guess.”
