A Fair Trade

Risk all to save one

By Aaron DeanPublished 3 years ago • 1 min read

Crowd roars as we begin the final melee. All are here for their prize, and mine means her freedom. We all rush towards each other, weapons in hand. Some are faster, some are stronger, none are tougher. I take my shots, give them back harder. Darkness comes but I’m the last one to fall.

Brightness fills my vision and she’s watching over me, like always. Dead or alive, I’m so happy she's here I don’t notice the numbness in my legs. I may never walk again but I can still hold her and now she’s free. A fair trade.
