Stephen, Samuel's twin brother, attends the middle school in their neighborhood as Samuel is bused to an elementary school in another neighborhood across town. Stephen had been a sixth grader for a few months and had taken a few classes during the summer after third grade and skipped fourth grade entirely. Even in fifth grade, he was the smallest in his class and felt very worried about everyone seeing him. He even felt that way being a sixth grader, seeing some of the same students he graduated with in fifth grade and the new students he saw were just the same as them. As Samuel was facing a long exhausting day, so was Stephen. On his way to class Stephen was talking to his classmate Paul about the latest anime show out with the English dub. As they were walking, Paul accidently bumped into Billy, another classmate of theirs. That angered him thinking that Paul did it on purpose.

"Hey" he shouted as he quickly grabbed Paul and shoved him against a wall. A shocked Stephen got in between them, hoping for them to make peace. Instead Billy pushed Stephen out of the way as he tried to move toward Paul. Billy was much bigger than the two of them. The janitor saw all of it as he was across the hall talking to a teacher. He ran towards them to see the problem of course knowing that Billy started it. He tells Billy to go to class and goes to see if Stephen and Paul are okay. They head off to class while Stephen was still shaking after the whole ordeal. Later at lunchtime after Stephen received his lunchtray, he went to go to the table where Paul was sitting. but he noticed that Billy and his two friends Earl and Francis were walking towards the table. As Paul began to eat his turkey and cheese sandwich, Billy slammed his hand on the table, starling paul. Earl and Francis stood behind Paul as he would move from his seat. Stephen sees this and runs to the table while holding his tray. Billy was not shocked by seeing him but he had Francis and Earl with him and was ready to fight him in the middle of the cafeteria. Billy seemed to notice that there were a few teachers around sitting at a table across from the other table. Billy then turns to Stephen who looked confused at first and walks off but not without a few words to him.

"After school" he said to both Paul and Stephen as he, Francis and Earl went back to their table to eat. During gym class paul hid in the library as he knew billy earl and francis had gym that period. Stephen was in the computer room where he was the assistant to the teacher. Once he heard the bell rang, Stephen knew it was time to go home but was also dealing with billy. It was almost three thirty and Billy was waiting in the schoolyard with Francis and Earl by his side. Many students were also there with a few of them holding their phones to take pictures and record videos of the fight. Stephen then came outside the backway with Paul. As they both face toward the trio, Stephen stood in front of Billy while Paul looked around nervously. Then Billy shoved Stephen to the ground similar to how he had pushed him earlier. Everyone around was just snapping photos and recording as Billy laughed. Stephen quickly kicked Billy in his leg while on the ground and got up to run for the backway of the school with Paul. Billy, Earl and Francis ran after them although a couple of students had tried to stall them at first. Stephen and Paul were running inside the empty hallway to catch their bus. They see the trio following them.

This way Stephen said to Paul as they made a detour to the front entrance. As they exited the school, they ran to their bus and hopped in and the trio were almost out of breath. The bus drove off and Stephen was tired. Nearly fifthteen minutes later Samuel came home and Stephen saw how upset he was while doing his homework.
