A Common Sip of Wine
A cool Stay in San Francisco, Part 9
The train was headed back to the hotels and Janette and I started to think about our next move and how we should turn the diamonds in to the local authorities, keep them and run away to a remote island, or give them to Mr. Chow and his Fung-fu thugs. Despite that uninvited guess, the look on Janette's face was calm and pleasing. I was happy that she came along for this ride and I had the opportunity to get to know her a bit more. I ordered a reserved bottle of wine to help us ease the trip after a long day. Friday has taken it's toll on us all, even Mr. Chow. I can see the stress on his face and if he find's out I have been playing with his mind during the entire trip, he might unleash a series of blows that I may not be able to recover from.
"What's your name, Mr. Ebony male?" I replied with a tone of truce as I shook Mr. Chow's hand. "LeTron is the name, Commercial Real Estate Manager." I extended the bottle of red to Mr. Chow, inviting him to a glass. "So, where are you from, Mr. Chow?" He took a sip and replied, "Heyward!" We both started laughing and took a sip together and the tension in the air escaped. "So where did you learn that style, LeTron?" While answering, I gave him a smirk and said, "Pontiac, MI of all places!"
Mr. Chow retreats to his seat as he hails the glass of red with a look of approval on his face. "Now that you and Mr. Chow are buddies, what are we going to with the diamonds now?" as Janette gave me a soft bump with her shoulder. "We aren't going to do anything right now, but sip wine and enjoy the moment!" I looked into Janette eyes as I calmly sipped my glass of red and then reclined my seat back to relax for the remainder of the ride.
Janette grabbed her glass and motioned a gesture of "cheers" to me for not tearing up the train with Mr. Chow and I shook my head in slightly disagreeing that it was Mr. Chow who started the fight. "Drink your wine, darling! You are going to need a calm nerve so you can figure out this mess you got us into." I looked a Janette as she describes the mess I got us into while she picked up the wrong bag at the train station.
We both continued to sip wine and enjoy each other's company as the train took as back to our destination and the time is running out as Mr. Chow and his crew are going to want some answers before they start to destroy things and hurt people. However the wine was nice and the mood was settle as everyone was somewhat back to a normal state. The wonders of wine! "I have a plan!" as I quickly grabbed Janette's hand. "This plan of yours better be good after you almost made me spill my wine!" I gathered myself and said, "The answer has been sitting here all along and we did not use it to our advantage." Janette had a puzzled look on her face and said, "What are you talking about, black man? have you had too much wine on this trip?" I laughed and said, "No, Luv! Not enough wine, not enough! The answer has been sitting here the entire time of the trip and Mr. Chow and his thugs will never know what will hit him!"
