Laura leaned against the window, watching the falling maple leaves as her thoughts wandered. Unconsciously, she thought of the enchanting figure who had occupied her mind for so long.

That spring, under the warm sun and blooming peach blossoms, Laura met the dashing Vincent in the midst of the flowering trees. Clad in white and holding a flute, Vincent was a sight to behold, contrasting beautifully against the splendor of the peach blossom. Laura blushed as she gazed at him, her heart pounding like a rabbit's.

Ever since that fateful first meeting, Laura was unable to forget Vincent. She scoured the city, learning that Vincent was a wealthy, talented, and gentle natural young man. In her quest to see him again, she eventually crossed paths with him at a bustling temple fair. Gathering her courage, Laura confessed her feelings to Vincent, who looked at her with tenderness in his eyes. Thus began a passionate love affair.

Alas, happiness is ephemeral. Vincent's family opposed their union, believing that Laura was not worthy of him. Under immense pressure, Vincent was forced to marry a woman from an equally prestigious family.

Heartbroken, Laura decided to leave the city of her sorrow in search of a new beginning. On the eve of her departure, she lit a lantern by the window, sending her thoughts and longing for Vincent into the night. She understood that this love, like the burning candle, would eventually turn to ashes, but she was determined to hold onto the memory, as it was the most precious treasure in her heart.
