Mason, Courtney, Shawn and Sarai are all getting ready for their long awaited 4/20 stoner party. “Yo, who got the edibles?” Shawn asked allowed. “Mason said he had em’ wrapped up in the ziplock.” Courtney replied as she packed the drinks in the back of the van. “What kinda drinks are you putting in the back, Court?” Sarai asked. “If I remembered correctly, she put the Hennessy and Patròn in one cooler and the Pepsi and Sprite in the other one. Variety matters ya know.” Shawn concluded.
“Why are you so worried about the drinks anyway, pirate?” Mason asked while taking a puff of his weed. “It’s a 4/20 party, not a beer fest.” “He’s got a point.” Courtney added. “All that matters is that everybody is blazing up the best weed and chewing on the best edibles…or sucking if that’s your thing.” “Ew, girl stop being nasty.” Sarai said as Mason passed her the weed. “Looks like y’all are already hitting the hi-ho.” Shawn began as he and the crew headed out the door. “Who’s driving?” He asked while eyeing his three stoned friends.
“I think who ever is the less stoned should drive.” Courtney giggled. “That’s gonna be kinda hard to determine considering that all four of us are nearly tore up from the floor up already.” Mason observed. “Let’s hurry up and make a decision, Christina’s party is starting soon.” Sarai urged. “Right um, Shawn, you drive.” Mason suggested. “You seem slightly less faded than everybody else, so you might be the safest bet.”
“So you makin me the safety net?” Shawn jokingly rhymed. “Shut up and drive, Jay-Z.” Courtney asserted. “We’re gonna be late for the party.” The four friends all climbed in Mason’s jeep with Shawn at the wheel and headed to the highly anticipated 4/20 party. “Yo make sure you don’t exceed the speed.” Mason cautioned. “It’s 4/20 and you know one-time is out looking to catch whoever they can to make that quota. “Boy I don’t need you side seat driving from the passenger chair, I got this.” Shawn replied.
“Ow. Who threw that at me?” Mason asked as he rubbed his head from being hit by a Skittles edible.” “I threw it.” Sarai replied from the passenger side of the back seat. “Stop killing the high vibes before we even get to the party.” “Yeah.” Shawn added while taking his eyes off the road to acknowledge Mason. “Bro, you gotta chill. Loosen up, we are about to have the best night of our-” before Shawn could finish he suddenly swerved into the opposite lane as everyone in the car began screaming at the top of their lungs.
“WATCH OUT!!!” Courtney screamed as their jeep collided head on with a Honda SUV in the opposite lane. The driver in the Honda flew head first through his front windshield with Courtney being ripped from the belt buckle of the jeep’s backseat. The man was impaled by a piece of flying glass as Courtney had her throat sliced by flying glass from his windshield. As both cars are stopped by the collision the approaching cars stopped behind them. “Oh my goodness.” Sarai cried as the group started coming to.
“Court? Court?” Mason cried as he shook Courtney’s convulsing body while she bled from her throat. “Oh no he’s not breathing. Shawn assessed as he pushed the impaled man’s body off of him from the passenger side. A head wounded Sarai climbed out of the back seat and rushed to Courtney’s convulsing body. “We gotta call 9-1-1.” She cried out. “They’re on the way.” One of the men from the surrounding cars called out. “Oh no, oh no.” Shawn pleaded with a bloodied broken nose. “What have we done?” Mason asked hopelessly as Courtney’s body became motionless.
Within 30 minutes police and paramedics had arrived on the scene. The stoned trio of Mason, Shawn and Sarai sat on the sidewalk talking to police as the bodies of Courtney and the nameless man were hauled off in coroner vans. “Im sorry about your friend.” The police officer standing over the group consoled. “We’re gonna need to take you all down to the station for further questioning. “Yes sir.” Mason replied. The group look over at the man’s mangled car and saw one of the police officers pick up his left behind opened wallet.
“He was a father of three.” The cop uttered as the trio overheard him. Sarai began to cry profusely as Mason and Shawn looked at each other with guilt. “How could we have done this?” Mason asked himself. “We got high on this day which was supposed to be a fun day and now an innocent man and our best friend is dead. The high times of 4/20 were not worth this…”
The end.
