NO matter what part of the United States you live in, we can all agree currently the price of eggs has risen significantly. The approximate cost of a dozen eggs today ranges from 5 to $10 depending on what part of the US you live in. There's no simple answer to this question since there are many variables to consider, such as the type of chickens you're raising, what you're feeding them, the cost of housing and equipment, your own time and labor, etc. However, in general, it costs more to raise chickens for eggs than to buy them at the store.

The main expense when raising chickens is feed. A good quality feed can cost around $20 for a 50-pound bag, and chickens eat about 1/4 pound of feed per day. So, over the course of a year, you could spend $365 on feed for just one chicken. Then there are other expenses like housing, bedding, water, chicken wire, and so on.

If you're only raising a few chickens, it's probably cheaper to buy eggs at the store. However, if you're raising a larger flock, you can save money by raising your own chickens. Plus, you'll know exactly where your eggs come from and can be sure they're fresh and healthy.
