Many people want to work from home in order to stay home with their children. They want to be able to bring in some extra money, while still taking care of their children. They don't want someone else to raise their children.

That being said, it can be very difficult to work from home, while your children are home. However, it doesn't have to be that way.

Here are some tips to ensure that you can still have a successful business while working at home with your children.

Make it a priority. If you aren’t dedicated to your business, it will not succeed. You need to make a decision to work on your business every day. If you don't, nobody else will. Your business simply won't succeed, unless you are ready to put the work in.

Utilize nap and bedtimes. Young children need a lot of sleep. Make sure that you work as hard as you can during every nap. You should also get up early and work before they wake up. If you are a night owl, be sure to work after you put them to bed.

Utilize school time. Once your children start school, you will have hours by yourself to work on your business. You need to make sure that you don't waste a single minute when you are home alone.

Allow your children to help. Children love spending time with you, even if that means working around the house. Depending on their age, they can help with laundry, collecting dishes, and much more. Older children, especially those who drive, can be very helpful with meals and running errands.

Teach independence. Young children can learn to help themselves. They can get already prepared drinks and snacks for themselves instead of always bothering you.

Hire a sitter. Though most people want to work from home to save on child care, you may want to hire someone to watch your children occasionally. It is amazing how much more you can accomplish without interruptions.

Let them work with you. Give young children some paper, staples, fake phones, and other office supplies and let them “help.” If they are older, give them tasks that they can do to help with your business.

Keep your children active. In the summer, find camps for your children. Send them on play dates if possible. Try to find other mothers to switch off. Take both of the children for a while and then let her do the same.

You can have a successful business while working around your children if you are willing to put in the work. It won’t be easy, but it is really worth it to do something that you love with your children by your side.

The first thing that you need to do is make it a priority. If you aren't ready to put in the work, nobody else is going to do it for you. You also need to utilize nap times (when your children are little) and school time (once they are older). You may also need to get up early to work before they get up, or work after they go to bed!

You may also need to get help. Your husband and children can help you with the chores around the house. They should also be able to get themselves snacks and drinks, instead of bothering you for everything that they need. You may even want to hire a sitter to help you occupy the kids when you have something really important to do.

Some parents even get their children to help with their business! Give them a fake phone, some paper, and watch them imitate you.
