The Story of Hazrat Yousuf (AS)

Hazrat Yousuf (AS) was a prophet and a son of Prophet Ya'qub (AS) who was blessed with extraordinary beauty and intelligence. He was born in Canaan, which is present-day Palestine, and he had eleven brothers. His mother was Prophet Ya'qub's (AS) favorite wife, Rachel, and as such, Yousuf (AS) was his favorite son.

Later, he was sold into slavery by some passing merchants, who took him to Egypt.

In Egypt, he was sold to the house of Potiphar, a wealthy and influential man. Hazrat Yousuf (AS) quickly became Potiphar's trusted servant and rose to a position of authority in his household. However, his good fortune was short-lived as Potiphar's wife made advances toward him, which he resisted. She falsely accused him of trying to seduce her, and he was thrown into prison.

Even in prison, Hazrat Yousuf (AS) continued to show his resilience and ability to adapt. He gained the trust of the prison warden and became responsible for managing the affairs of the prison. While in prison, he met two men who had worked in the court of the Egyptian king. They both had dreams, and Hazrat Yousuf (AS) interpreted their dreams for them. One of them was released and went back to the king's court, where he mentioned Hazrat Yousuf (AS) to the king.

The king summoned Hazrat Yousuf (AS) to his court and asked him to interpret a dream he had been having. Hazrat Yousuf (AS) correctly interpreted the dream and advised the king on how to prepare for an upcoming famine. The king was so impressed with him that he appointed him as the governor of Egypt.

During his time as governor, Hazrat Yousuf (AS) reunited with his family, including his brothers who had thrown him into the well many years ago. His brothers did not recognize him, but he forgave them and welcomed them with open arms. Hazrat Yousuf (AS) revealed his identity to them, and they were overcome with guilt and shame. He forgave them and asked them to bring their father and the entire family to Egypt, where he could provide for them during the famine.
