**The Little Tree’s Wish**
Once upon a time, in a quiet forest, there was a small tree named Sprout. Sprout was not like the other big, strong trees around him. He was short, thin, and his branches were fragile. The other trees were tall and strong, their trunks thick and powerful. Sprout often felt small and unimportant when he compared himself to them. He wished he could grow taller and stronger, like the mighty oaks and pines, so that everyone would respect him.
One day, Sprout watched a group of birds flying through the sky. They flew high above the forest and then landed on the tall oak trees nearby. The birds began building their nests, twining twigs and leaves together to make cozy homes. Sprout felt a little sad. “Why don’t the birds want to nest in my branches?” he wondered. “If I were bigger and stronger, they would come to me too.” But his branches were too thin to hold a nest, and his trunk was too small to support anything.
"Why can’t I be taller and stronger?" Sprout sighed, wishing with all his heart that he could grow bigger. “Then the birds would come to me and build their nests here.”
As the days passed, Sprout did grow a little taller. His branches stretched out a bit, and he was proud of the small change. But he was still not as big as the mighty oaks. He often wondered if he would ever be as big and strong as them.
One day, a big storm blew into the forest. The wind howled loudly, and the trees swayed under the pressure. The tall trees, which Sprout had always admired, bent and groaned as the wind pushed against them. Some of the biggest trees even cracked and fell. Sprout felt very small and scared. The storm was fierce, and he wondered if he would survive.
But then something surprising happened. Even though the wind blew hard, Sprout’s thin branches did not break. His small trunk, though not as big as the others, stayed strong in the wind. The tall trees swayed and bent, but Sprout remained steady. His roots were deep in the earth, holding him firmly in place. He didn’t fall.
When the storm finally stopped, the forest was quiet. Many of the tall trees had been damaged or fallen, but Sprout was still standing strong. He looked around and saw the sun shining through the clouds, warming the wet forest.
Just then, a group of birds flew over the forest. They circled around and noticed Sprout. Seeing his small branches, they decided to land on him. “This is perfect!” one of the birds chirped. “These branches are just right for us!”
The birds settled into Sprout’s branches, happy to have found a safe place to rest. Sprout couldn’t believe it. The birds had chosen him! He was small, but his branches were just right for the birds. He had something special that the big trees didn’t—his size made him steady in the storm, and now he could provide a home for the birds.
Sprout smiled to himself. He realized that being small wasn’t so bad after all. In fact, he had his own unique strengths. He didn’t need to be the tallest or strongest tree. He was perfect just as he was.
From that day on, Sprout didn’t wish to be bigger. He was happy with who he was. He had a special place in the forest, and the birds loved to visit him. Sprout grew a little taller over time, but he never wished to be as big as the oaks. He knew that the forest needed all kinds of trees—both big and small.
Sprout continued to grow, not the biggest tree in the forest, but a cheerful and friendly one. He welcomed the birds into his branches, and they always found a home with him. Sprout had found his place in the world, and he was proud to be the little tree with a big heart.
