The Giant and the Beanstalk - Kids story

A twist on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story

By Rajeswari AkkiniPublished about a year ago 5 min read

Once upon a time, in a far-off land, there lived a giant named Grumble who was feared by everyone. Grumble was a huge giant who lived in a giant castle that was situated at the top of a high mountain. No one dared to go near the castle because they were afraid of being eaten by the giant.

One day, a little boy named Jack decided to climb the mountain to the giant's castle. Jack was a brave boy who loved adventure, and he was determined to find out what was inside the castle. As he climbed higher and higher, he saw a giant beanstalk that had grown all the way to the top of the castle.

Jack was amazed at how tall the beanstalk was, and he decided to climb it. As he climbed, he felt the wind blowing against his face, and his heart was pounding with excitement. Finally, he reached the top and saw the giant's castle.

When Jack entered the castle, he saw the giant Grumble sleeping soundly. Grumble was a kind giant, and he did not harm anyone unless they tried to harm him. Jack tiptoed around the giant and saw a chest filled with golden coins.

Jack knew that he could not take the gold without waking up the giant, so he decided to look for something else. He found a book that was lying on the table and started reading it. The book was about a magic potion that could make a person grow bigger or smaller, depending on how it was used.

Jack was curious and decided to try the potion. He drank a drop of the potion and immediately felt his body growing bigger and bigger. He soon grew to the size of the giant, and he knew that he had to be careful not to wake him up.

While exploring the castle, Jack found a room with a locked door. He tried to open the door, but it was too heavy for him to push. He remembered the potion and drank another drop, which made him smaller. He was now the size of a mouse and could easily crawl through the keyhole.

Inside the room, he found a beautiful golden harp that was playing music by itself. Jack knew that the harp was magical, and he wanted to take it with him. However, the harp was too heavy for him to carry, so he drank another drop of the potion and grew bigger again.

Just as he was about to leave the room, the giant woke up and saw Jack. Grumble was surprised to see the little boy and asked him what he was doing there. Jack explained that he had come to explore the castle and had found the harp in the locked room.

The giant was pleased that Jack had not come to harm him and allowed him to take the harp with him. He also gave Jack a bag of golden coins as a gift.

Jack climbed down the beanstalk and returned home, where he showed his mother the harp and the bag of gold. His mother was happy and proud of him, but she was also worried that the giant might come looking for them.

However, the giant did not come looking for Jack, and he realized that he did not need to be afraid of him. Instead, he became friends with the giant and visited him often. The giant taught Jack many things about the world, and Jack shared his adventures with the giant.

Jack and the giant became the best of friends, and they lived happily.

As Jack continued to visit the giant, he learned more and more about him. He found out that the giant had been lonely for a long time, and he was grateful to have a friend like Jack. Grumble shared stories about his life and how he had been living in the castle for many years.

Jack also shared his own stories with the giant, telling him about his family, his adventures, and the things he loved to do. The two of them had many things in common, despite their differences in size and appearance.

One day, as Jack was walking through the forest, he met a group of travelers who were lost. They had been looking for a way to get to the other side of the mountain, but they had lost their way. Jack knew that the giant could help them, so he offered to take them to the castle.

At first, the travelers were afraid of the giant, but Jack reassured them that he was kind and friendly. When they met the giant, he welcomed them with open arms and offered them food and shelter.

The travelers were amazed by the giant's hospitality and kindness. They had never met a giant like Grumble before, and they realized that he was not as scary as they had thought.

As the days went by, more and more people came to visit the giant. They brought gifts, told stories, and shared their own experiences with him. The giant was happy to have so many visitors, and he loved to hear about their lives.

Jack was proud of the friendship he had formed with the giant, and he was happy to see so many people coming to visit him. He knew that the giant had a lot to offer, and he was glad that others were getting to know him as well.

One day, as Jack was visiting the giant, he saw a group of hunters coming towards the castle. The hunters were known for their cruelty towards animals, and Jack knew that they would try to harm the giant.

He quickly told the giant to hide, and he went outside to confront the hunters. Jack told them that the giant was his friend, and they had no right to harm him. The hunters laughed at Jack and said that they would do whatever they wanted.

Just as they were about to attack Jack, the giant appeared from behind a tree. The hunters were shocked to see him, and they realized that they were no match for the giant. Grumble picked up the hunters and carried them away, warning them never to come back.

Jack was grateful to the giant for saving his life, and he knew that their friendship was stronger than ever. He realized that it did not matter how big or small someone was, or what they looked like. What mattered most was how kind and loving they were towards others.

From that day on, Jack and the giant continued to have many adventures together. They traveled to far-off lands, met new friends, and learned new things. They were happy and content, and they knew that their friendship would last a lifetime.

And so, the giant and the boy lived happily ever after, inspiring others to look past appearances and to find love and friendship in unexpected places.

This version of the classic tale shows that not all giants are bad, and it is possible to befriend them. It also teaches children about bravery, curiosity, and the importance of making friends with people who are different from us.
