When your kids are in their childhood that is the prime time for learning and many developmental milestones. This is the time when they will learn the most and set the foundation that will help them to structure their future learning habits for the rest of their lives.

At this stage, their brains are developing and absorbing so many new things every single day. It is important that as parents we continue to provide our children with an environment that is conducive to learning great habits that will follow them throughout adulthood.

We all look at our children and think they are so smart and right here right now we are going to give you ten tips that will help you as parents to continue that crucial brain development that will help your child to grow smarter and smarter as they get older.

1. Read books to them

Reading is a fundamental part of a child's educational journey. It will also allow them to pick up on words over time; you may find that initially, your child will have no idea what you're saying and as you continue to read they will begin to pick up on the words that you are reading to them.

Reading will begin a habit that is sure to follow them well into their adult lives. Just think about how things you could've avoided if you'd just read the instructions properly the first time.

2. Talk to your child

You know all those parents that talk to their kids even when they can't say coherent words and we all think they sound ridiculous? Well, their children are more likely to pick up more words from those jumbled conversations than children whose parents don't have conversations with them at all.

What happens when you have a conversation with your children is it shows them to keep pushing to communicate and also refines their growing knowledge of the language that you are speaking to them. And when you are having these conversations make sure to listen as well, once you say something then you wait for a response like you would do in a regular dialogue with another person.

3. Make your child feel loved

Children respond to emotions and feelings that they pick up on from their parents so it is essential that in the early years and throughout their lives you love on your children. Giving hugs, kisses, and many other affectionate actions will help them to develop emotionally.

Children who are lacking in getting that affection and tenderness from their parents develop into adults that have social and emotional problems. It stunts their ability to develop properly when their emotional growth is stunted at such a young age.

4. You don't need expensive toys

Children really need help with their budding imagination and the best way to do this is through playing with toys, but you don't need expensive toys to do this. Try to purchase toys that can be played in a variety of ways, not just one way.

And you can buy second-hand toys instead of brand new ones that way you can save money and you'll be able to use it for all of your children.

5. Nurture your child's creativity

Creativity is a let component in unlocking the depths of the mind and allowing for deep thinking skills, you should really encourage your child to be creative in any and all ways. Which means exposing them to different kinds of music, art, and science. You should introduce things that allow your child to put their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to use.

You should also provide crafting tools like paper, paints, crayons, and other things that will allow them to express their creativity.

6. Let your child watch you

The best way for your children to form a habit is by seeing you do it first. Children pick up on things that their parents due the quickest because they see you doing it frequently whether it be a good or bad habit they will eventually pick up on it.

You should allow them to see you reading, writing, exercising, being creative, and making music and they will eventually begin to do what you're doing as well.

7. Limit television viewing

It's understandable that sometimes as a parent you are tired and just simply need a break so you switch the television on. Children technically don't need to watch television until they are at least two years of age.

Also, when a child is busy watching television then they aren't doing any of the other activities that help their brain growth.

8. Allow your children to be bored

It is not humanly possible to be occupied every second of every day, therefore you should allow your children to get bored. It will help them understand how to use these periods of boredom to reflect and meditate even.

This tool will help them well into adulthood and will help them to be okay with not having to feel this empty space with unnecessary things to do. Don't get us they shouldn't just lounge around all day but thirty minutes of quiet time daily is beneficial.

9. Allow your child to fail and take risks

If your children don't learn how to fall off of a bike and get back up or speak in from of people then they will learn to develop phobias and fears of these things. Developing these fears can cause a lack of self-esteem and confidence in themselves.

Therefore it's important and crucial to your child's growth that you allow them to take risks and feel the consequences good or bad of those actions. Without knowing what it's like to fail they will never understand what it takes to get back up after failing.

10. Encourage a can-do attitude

Tell your children to believe in the power that they can do anything they set their minds too. Half the battle of doing something is believing that you can do it in the first place. Many people talk themselves out of doing something by thinking that they can't do it.

If your child approaches everything with a can-do attitude then they will be more open to attempting new things.
