The Keeper of the Calm
In each family there seems to be that one person who holds the group together; the glue, the cornerstone, the core, the go-to person when life gets tough. They are the one that calms the storms of life, the ones that bring good common sense and humor when needed. They are the ones that you feel the "safest" with, somehow. The ones we look up to and trust.

From Chaos to Calm
Cleaning a home—really cleaning it—gives you a sense of control that’s hard to come by in the chaos of daily life. When you’ve lived in a “handyman’s dream,” like I have, you know that control can feel elusive. Renovation projects, DIY fixes, and even the odd plumbing mystery (still not over the ancient coins we found in the pipes) teach you to live with a bit of disorder. And in some ways, you get used to it. But there’s nothing like the satisfaction of walking into a space that’s clean, organized, and truly yours.

Supporting Our Elders
How do the elders live in the U.S. with only social security? I have sat down with some elders to keep them company and let them talk. Elders have a myriad of interesting stories of when they were young, which I enjoy. But one conversation I do not enjoy is talking about their finances. I feel it is their way of just letting it out — a rant perhaps, and I am appalled at the amount of money they receive. Some of these people worked for over 40 or 50 years and had withholdings from every paycheck. I knew that social security is not something we can solely rely on, but it is just plain ridiculous.

Abortion and Reproductive Rights
Sarah, a young mother of two, found herself in a devastating situation when she was six months pregnant with her third child. Excited and hopeful for her growing family, she and her husband had already begun preparing a nursery. However, during a routine check-up, they received devastating news. The baby had a severe, life-threatening condition that meant the child would not survive beyond birth. Worse yet, continuing the pregnancy posed a significant risk to Sarah’s own health, as complications had already begun.
