Family...What Family?
Christmas is right around the corner and I'm looking forward for some well-deserved R&R alone. According to a YouGov study, 11 percent of Americans spent the holidays solo. More specifically, holidays that different people celebrate in the month of December. Recently, one of my coworkers asked what my plans are for Christmas. She worked so hard to make that happen, too hard at times and as children neither Ioan or I fully appreciated what she was doing. All we saw is that we spent more and more time at Nan’s and less with her.

Lights and Marshmallows
Maria could see how the night sky was riddled with stars safe and warm through the living room window. She was at her grandparents’ house, which was thankfully near her family’s place, so they visited a lot. Especially during Christmas time when many of her cousins and their families would also come to visit. Her grandparents not only had a huge front yard and backyard but their property was secluded by trees so she and her cousins were able to run around without fear of being disturbed by nosy neighbors. Maria was having a great time this Christmas, even though as usual, there wasn’t a speck of snow on the ground despite the season.
