Hello my name is Linda, I am 35 years old. I am a domestic abuse survivor that recently got out of a bad abusive marriage and I had to move across the country with my children to get away. My mother and I never saw eye to eye my whole life, so I hardly ever talked to her. I reached out to her when I saw the opportunity to leave my marriage, and save my children and I but as usual she came off cruel and insensitive. It was always my fault as to why I was in my situation in the first place. So again I was on my own as I always had been my whole life.

Crazy Auntie V
I had been having a very bad week, month, year--ok, decade--as demonstrated by my current abode, a one-room, rent-by-the-week "apartment" converted from a 1930s motel in this dying small town. The town boasted two convenience stores, a school (consolidated) and six churches in a two-mile radius. I always wondered why, with so many devout Christians, the parking lot outside my door was alive with druggies and hookers all hours of the night.

A Father's Advice
There’s nothing quite as satisfying as smelling your dinner being prepared and cooked in the kitchen when you’re so desperately hungry you would eat anything put in front of you, only to have it placed on your lap still steaming from the oven. In this case it was a plate of shepherd’s pie with peas and broccoli on the side with an enormous Yorkshire pudding. The smell of freshly cooked lamb mince, Lea & Perrin’s and gravy filled my nostrils.
