Happy Monkey and Tortoise
In the heart of the lush Amazon rainforest, there lived a cheerful monkey named Milo and a wise old turtle named Tully. Milo, with his bright brown eyes and agile limbs, loved to swing from tree to tree, always looking for the next adventure. Tully, on the other hand, moved slowly and thoughtfully, enjoying the simple pleasures of life, like the feel of the sun on his shell and the taste of sweet, juicy leaves. One sunny morning, Milo was darting through the treetops when he spotted a strange glimmering object on the forest floor. Curious as always, he swung down to investigate. There, half-buried under a pile of leaves, was a golden key. Milo's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I wonder what this opens!" he exclaimed. Just then, Tully came ambling along. "Hello, Milo," he said in his slow, steady voice. "What have you found there?" "A golden key!" Milo replied, holding it up for Tully to see. "It must open something special. Do you want to help me find out what it is?" Tully smiled. "Of course, my friend. Adventure is always better with company." The two friends set off together, Milo darting ahead to scout the path while Tully followed at his own pace, carefully observing the world around him. They asked the parrots, the jaguars, and even the tiny ants if they knew what the key opened, but no one had ever seen anything like it. After a day of searching, they decided to rest by the Great Banyan Tree, known to be the oldest tree in the forest. As they sat in its shade, Tully pondered deeply. "Milo, perhaps we need to think like the key. What kind of place would such a treasure belong to?" Milo thought for a moment and then had an idea. "The highest point in the forest! Maybe the key belongs to something up high where only the bravest would dare to go." With renewed energy, Milo led the way, climbing higher and higher into the canopy. Tully followed, slowly but surely. After a long climb, they reached the top of a towering kapok tree, where they found a hidden wooden door covered in moss and vines. Milo's heart raced as he inserted the key into the lock. With a satisfying click, the door swung open to reveal a hidden grove filled with the most beautiful flowers they had ever seen, glowing with colors that seemed almost magical. In the center of the grove was a crystal-clear pond, surrounded by vibrant orchids and exotic plants. "It's beautiful," Tully said, his voice filled with awe. "This must be a place of great importance." As they explored the grove, they discovered ancient carvings on the rocks, telling the story of the forest's history and the creatures that lived there. They realized that this hidden paradise was a sacred place, meant to be protected and cherished. From that day on, Milo and Tully became the guardians of the secret grove. They made sure that only those with kind hearts and pure intentions could enter. The grove flourished under their care, becoming even more vibrant and alive. Milo's adventurous spirit and Tully's wisdom made them the perfect team. Together, they ensured that the hidden paradise remained a sanctuary of beauty and peace in the heart of the rainforest. And so, the happy monkey and the wise turtle continued their journey, side by side, forever bound by their shared secret and the love they had for their magical home.

A Birthday Trip to Remember
My earliest childhood memory is from when I just turned 3. It’s patchy and vague, but I remember it because it was such a unique and memorable event: my father took me on a train ride from Bishkek (then Frunze) to Moscow. The Soviet Union was huge, so that trip took three days and three nights one way. I remember the rhythmic and calming sound of the train, which I love even now. I still prefer traveling by train over a plane or car.

Dear Son or Daughter
Father's preface: Much of the material below includes adult language and themes. Depending on your age they may not be suitable for your reading just yet. If you have any doubt, ask your mom if it's OK, then do whatever she says. Also, please tell her that I love her and know that I love you, whoever, whenever, and wherever you are. Or should that have been whomever? Hmm. If we check with the grammar police for the appropriate usage we see that the word “whoever” is used to replace words like I, he, she, and they in a sentence. “Whomever” is a subject pronoun, meaning that it refers to the subject of a sentence. The subject of a sentence is the person that doing or performing an action. So, in this case it would be replacing 'you' and you are not an I, he, she, or they. I guess you are the subject of the sentence even though you are not technically doing anything or performing any action. You are just sitting there being asked to tell your mom that I love her and receiving love from me. So, I suppose if you actually do as instructed then you would be doing something, but that would be in the future, not at the time of your actually reading the sentence which ironically is in the future, at least from my perspective. Now that we cleared that up, read the stupid thing below, and I do love you.
