Ah, the many sounds of Summertime are here. I have so many wonder memories of Summertime.

The first is that I didn't have to wake up early to catch the bus to school anymore. I could sleep in as late as I wanted to and do what I want to do without a teacher to teach me.

The days were filled with fun and playing to sun when down. At noon hearing the church bells or mom yelling to you from the window that lunch was ready to eat. It was time to sit down and refresh your energy and out you went back to playing in the yard. If you where luck to know a friend that had a pool it was time go swimming in their pool to dinnertime. If not that luck mom would let you play with garden hose and fill up balloons to have wet balloons fight with your friends.

I remember that you had to be in the house when street light came on or you would be in trouble if you didn't call if you running. Hopping fences to get home more quickly if you forgot to call.

As the summer when on over the year and so you grow up it might have been time to change to a new school or make new friends so you if you went to camp.

For a few year I went to Summer camp at the YMCA. Doing sleepaway camp for two to three days. They kept you at busy so you wouldn't get bored with the summer. I remember that day that Elvis passed away because I was sleep away camp.

At camp we would walking to the pool everyday from went your day camp started after lunch.

At the pool you would learn to swim. In high school I was on the swim team. At the end of the camp day you were tired from all the fun you had.

Your parents would come and pick you up from camp. The next day you would start all over again.

A few trip would happen in the summertime. A zoo trip or when you got your driver license it was trips to mall, movies and let's forget to shore if you lived by one. It was more freedom when you got your licenses. You still had to tell your parents were you and with whom. Ah, the freedom.

In high school I was marching band. All 4 years and got my letter in it. That meant band camp in the summer you got to see your friends that you would be in band with that year. Learning drills to the music that you play at half time for the football game. I got to travel with the band during this time.

It seems that summertime was always a happy time. No one had to go away where at at special time. Easy, fun, full days and tans to show off when you went back to school in September.

Memorial Day always started the summer season and Labor Day would meant back to school and back to schedule. Two weeks before school would start you would call your friends see if they would be in your homeroom in September and happy if they were. Your bus pass would can in the mail to tell you were the bus stop would be.

The summer fun I had when I was growing up.
