Hello readers! Join me on Story Time With Winter Madison as we read stories together. Story Time is a time to relax, snuggle with your favorite stuffed buddy or blanket, and listen to stories read by Winter Madison. Our storytime last week started with a very frustrated Alexander who was just not having a very good day. Poor Alexander, everything seemed to go wrong! We follow Alexander and his Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and find out what things in his day made him feel the way he felt.

After each Story Time episode, we will have what's called Circle Time! Circle Time will focus on the books we read during our storytime episode. A Circle Time will be posted for each episode of Story Time. During our Circle Time, we discuss topics such as self-esteem, trying new things, just for fun topics, and many more! Be sure to tune in to our Circle Time after each storytime episode. (click the underlined words above to take you straight to this week's storytime and circle time!)

Circle Time Notes:

Readers, have you ever felt the way Alexander felt in the book we read? How do you think Alexander felt during the book? Show me how you identify with Alexander in the book by drawing a picture or writing a story about a time when you had a very bad day. All of my readers can post their pictures and stories (with an adult's help!) on my official author's page on Facebook (Winter Madison) and on Instagram (winter_the_author).

Sometimes, we have bad days like Alexander in the book we read. In the book, Alexander felt frustrated!

Word of the day! Get your parent's help with clicking the underlined word to learn what the word "frustrated" means. Talk about a time when you may have felt frustrated about something. What did you do when you felt this way?

Now readers, do you know that it's ok to feel a big feeling like "frustrated"? Sometimes these feelings can feel like a lot to handle, but there are ways we can calm ourselves! Let's explore:

  1. Take a deep breath (practice this by taking deep breaths in and out)
  2. Count to ten (count all the way up to ten, or as far as you can until you are calm!)
  3. Go to a quiet and safe space to calm down (this quiet safe space can be anywhere that you feel safe and happy)

All of the steps above can help us calm big feelings like being frustrated. Let's remember readers that bad days do not last forever. Remember that the next day is a brand new day! We should always give our days a good beginning by thinking good thoughts. What good thoughts can you think of to start the day off well? We can say to ourselves: "Today will be a good day!" or "Today is a great new day!" Remember that despite our best efforts sometimes our day will just not be a good one, and that's ok!

Readers, do you have the book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, at home? Whenever we read a story during storytime you can always follow along! Let's make it fun! How many times do the words, "bad day", appear in the book?

I hope my readers can join me on our newest adventure as we read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, followed by Circle Time where we follow up with lessons from what we read. I look forward to reading with you!
