Adam’s Life History

Prophet Adam was the first human created by Allah. He was given the name Adam by Allah. This article will provide a comprehensive account of the life of prophet Adam ( AS).

The Origin of Mankind

Allah (s.w.t) created the first human, Adam, from clay taken from various parts of the earth. After 40 years of molding and sculpting, Allah brought Adam to life.

Allah commanded the angels and Iblis to pay homage to Adam as a gesture of respect. All the angels obliged, except Iblis, who believed himself to be superior to Adam as he was made from fire instead of clay. This led to Iblis's downfall and he became the evil (Shaitaan) until the end of time.

Allah (s.w.t) granted Iblis' request to have a special power to mislead humans but warned that following his path would lead to eternal damnation in Hellfire. To guide people away from evil, Allah sent down the Qur'an. Later, as Adam (p.b.u.h) felt lonely, Allah created Eve by taking a rib from him. Adam and Eve lived happily in heaven with permission to enjoy everything except the fruit of the Forbidden Tree.

However, Shaitaan whispered to Eve and tempted her to eat from the Forbidden Tree. She then convinced Adam to do the same, leading to their expulsion from heaven. This marked the beginning of humanity's struggle against Shaitaan's influence and temptation, and the importance of following the guidance of the Qur'an to avoid falling into his trap and earning Allah's wrath.

One day, humanity's first individuals, Adam and Eve, forgot the divine prohibition and were tempted by Shaitaan to eat the fruit of the Forbidden Tree. Their disobedience resulted in their expulsion from paradise and they were cast onto Earth on a Friday, in a state of nudity.

Recognizing the challenges of life on Earth, Prophet Adam prepared himself with clothing and weapons to protect his family. Adam and Eve were blessed with two pairs of twins and lived happily as they watched their children grow and mature.

The first four children of Adam

The first pair of twins were Cain and his sister, while the second were Abel and his sister. As they grew, Cain became a farmer who tended the land and grew crops, while Abel raised livestock.

When they reached maturity, Allah revealed to Adam that Cain should marry Abel's sister and vice versa. However, Cain refused to follow the divine command and desired to marry his own twin sister instead. This saddened Adam who prayed to Allah for peace and harmony within his family.

Allah instructed Adam to ask his sons to offer a sacrifice, and the one who fulfilled it would have the right to marry their preferred companion. Abel offered his finest livestock, while Cain presented his poorest crops. Allah accepted Abel's sacrifice but rejected Cain's, causing Cain to become angry and jealous. He then fell under Shaitaan's influence and threatened to kill Abel.

In his anger, Cain struck Abel with a stone, killing him and committing the first murder on Earth. With guidance from Allah, Cain buried his brother.

Adam was grieved by Abel's death and recognized that Cain had fallen under evil's influence. He prayed for his son and warned his other descendants about the dangers of Shaitaan's temptations, encouraging them to believe in and follow Allah.

As time passed, Adam's descendants populated the earth, and as he aged, he appointed his son Seth as his successor to continue guiding humanity.

Prophet Adam (AS) Death.

As Prophet Adam (p.b.u.h) approached his end of life, he longed to taste the fruits of Heaven. When his children went in search of them, the angels informed them to return and be with their father as he was dying. Upon seeing the angel of death, Eve became frightened and sought out Adam (p.b.u.h). She understood that her companion would soon be gone forever, as per Allah's will. However, Adam (p.b.u.h) taught his children that Allah (s.w.t) would send prophets to guide them, each with unique names, qualities, and abilities to perform miracles. These prophets would all strive to spread the message of worshiping Allah (s.w.t) alone. With a smile, Adam (p.b.u.h) closed his eyes as angels gathered around him. They took his soul, shrouded it, and prayed for him at his gravesite where he was buried.
