Number1 = Number2

Equality

To speak of truth is the pure mathematician’s genius. However, the flawed mathematical genius could manage only a subset of the purest of maths, we shall call them Number2. The subset of mathematics we shall call Logic of which they were a master. One would think that their brother, also a genius, however one who could talk to animals like Dr Dolittle, would as being older be a greater man than Number2. We shall call them Number1, and I shall offer the premise that they were in fact equal.

Whilst the elder Brother had a head start in life, one year and a bit more, and the idea of Logic, whilst not new in the Universe was relatively new on the planet that they roamed.

So mathematically, Number1 = Number2. This is an offering and perhaps not for either of them to judge, as Number1’s magic with the dumb beasts who inhabited the planet was certainly quite great, but finite and possibly dwindling as these beasts died out from extinction.

What was relatively unknown to many on this planet was that Logic was a new kind of faith that did not involve lies. As lies would cause the logic to malfunction. It lasted longer and was not as pliable as beast magic. It stood the test of time and like the purest of maths was indefatigable.

Often the magic of beasts would die with their allotted time on the planet.

Number1 did not know about the plausible equality of Number2, he was more domineering being older and Number2 had learned, wisely, to be humble and less noisy.

Logic was to be a new era in the world within mathematics which had ruled since the magicians of ancient Egypt began to practice it’s sums and equations that were so truthful the great pyramids still stick out from the earth as if to say, we were right and you are wrong. Note: they say we are wrong from a point in the past to now. And they might be right. Except for the human death legacy in the building of such monoliths. They may be right, but they might also be murderous souls, and the pharaohs should accept their fate as penance for leading such lives.

One day, Number1 came to Number2 on their birthday and inspected him. He may or may not have seen that he did not look at him. Instead he looked at his mother, and somewhat his father. Number1 should possibly not have come there that day, because something was un-bestowed with his entering the house where Number2 lived. Number2 did not un-bestow the thing, God did. God undid something that was done up many years previously, as Number2 had become quite older, and of course so had Number1.

Number1 left Number2’s house saying “See ya”, it had no effect on him. Although “Nos Vamos” would have been more appropriate.

Number2 did not feel equal ever, however, he kept dusting himself off and getting up and carrying on when he fell and grazed his knee, or quietly faded into the background when it was time for Number1 to be noisy. Some equality is not observed by any except the ebb and flow of magic. And since Logic was relatively young in the world, or at least the Logic that came naturally to Number2 he was hesitant and cautious in it’s application lest it be wrong and a cataclysm opened an abyss. As it was his caution paid off as he would otherwise not have reached his grand young age.

I reiterate that Number1 = Number2. Number1 was certainly not Number2 they were separated by a bit more than one year. We think that maybe what happened was that Number1 wasted their head start by trying to contain Number2, perhaps trying too hard to contain them, and not keeping an eye on the Ball, which was a moveable feast. And Number2 was, whilst being a man, was in fact an immoveable beast.

Perhaps Number2’s success at equating was their constant thought of family and how that might actually define the equality. Number2 would never know how that were to be true, as it was not a question of logic. It was a question of feeling. Besides it was possibly for Number 3 to judge, however, neither Number2, or Number1 were going to wait for that judgement. To do things they had to do they strode differently but the same.

So in the end the only thing Number1 had over Number2 was time. And that sometimes runs out.

However, Number1 had begun to learn again, so the story goes.

    We continue to get older at the same rate though in the equality stakes it no longer matters. There has been a winner, I shall not say who. I shall let time answer that one. And as we all travel through time we shall find different things to interest us and different experiences to think about. However, one thing shall remain constant. Every so often Number1 shall be equal to Number2. #bedownlyup
