Number 68

I remember me at three.

It was just my mother and me.

His brother moved in next door, then moved away,

And then left room for more.

He was 6 foot tall and great.

And he wore the number 68.

Their son was a uni-bound boy, spent hours breaking in his toys.

“Daddy, take me out to the ball game”, and they’d run out the gate.

Wearing the number 68.

I’m one of three kids now, I’m almost up and grown.

The other day, things were taking a turn,

It’s time for me to grow up and learn.

Into Sydney just the other day to push the monster out of the way.

And he makes us wait, wearing the number 68.

Now, he brings his ‘A’, wearing the Number 68.

And as I’m standing here,

Looking through the fence, it’s all starting to make some sense.

And as he lines up ready to bat, I can tell this is gonna be great.

And as he rounds the base, he wears the number 68.
