Lyndon heard mommy exclaim “not again!”. Lyndon was in her room coloring in her favorite coloring book. She ran to the laundry room to find mommy standing in front of the dryer with her hands upon her hips, shaking her head in dismay. Lyndon asked “ what happened mommy?” Mommy said, well Lyndon, it has happened again! One of your socks has gone missing. Mommy grabbed the clothes basket and walked into the bedroom to start folding the still warm laundry. Lyndon stood in front of the dryer for a few moments thinking and thinking and thinking. Where on earth can that sock be? Lyndon stuck her head into the dryer and felt a whoosh of warm air. She pushed her head in just a bit further to glance around but nope. Nothing.

Just then Mr. Bluesock saw Lyndon’s face. He leaped up and down waved his arms and shouted but Lyndon couldn’t hear him or see him. He was lost! He was lost in Sockland! What would he do? He had to find his way back home. He sat down and began to cry. Just then a rainbow sock walked over to him and asked, what’s the matter? Why are you so blue? It’s a beautiful day in Sockland today! All of us lost socks are going to the playground. Will you come join us? Mr. Bluesock wiped his tears and walked with Rainbowsock to the playground. There were dozens of socks there playing joyfully together. They all seemed so happy. There was Mrs. Redsock on the swings. Ms. Pinksock and Sir Blacksock were on the seesaw laughing together as they went up and down. Everyone was so happy here in Sockland playing together! Mr. Bluesock played with the other socks but he still missed his friend Lyndon. He truly wanted to go home. He thanked Rainbowsock for the lovely day and asked her is there anyway for him to go back home? Rainbowsock said that she had heard of a way but no one there had ever tried because everyone was just so happy playing all day. She said that she heard that if you could get really really really wet and jumped as high as you could that you may be able to leave Sockland and maybe, just maybe go back home in the dryer. Mr. Bluesock decided that tomorrow he would find the biggest puddle that he could and try his best to get back home.

The next day Mr. Bluesock did just that. He found the biggest puddle that he could find and flung himself into it. He rolled around and around until he was sopping wet. Then he jumped as high as he could! He jumped so hi that he actually bumped his head on the sky. Ouch! He rubbed his noggin and closed his eyes and when he opened them he was back inside of mommy’s dryer. He was still wet from the puddle but he clung onto the side with all of his might. He knew that the next time mommy washed the clothes that she would find him! He knew that Lyndon would be so happy!

Just a few days later mommy did laundry again. When she was pairing the socks together she found Lyndon’s blue sock that had been missing. She called to her. Lyndon sweetie, guess what I found, she said? I found your blue sock! Lyndon was so so happy. They would never ever know that Mr. Bluesock had an amazing adventure in Sockland!
