A Daddy For Hannah
She regains her balance after pulling herself onto the roof. Although, she has scraped herself many-a-time on the rough shingle tiles getting to her favorite place, she is now an expert at achieving this feat and now does it scrap-free. This sanctuary of solitude provides a place where she can let out all her frustrations, dream that she is a princess held hostage in a tower about to be rescued by her knight in shining armor, or just be left alone to gaze at the vast universe above. The summer months make it comfortable to sit out under the stars and imagine how different things could be. As she settles in, she waits for the next shooting star to appear so she can make her wish. Most times she is left disappointed, but tonight, she sees it, the unmistakable streak of light shooting across the sky. “There it is! There it is!” She exclaims out loud, almost losing her balance jumping up and down in excitement. “I knew I would see you again!” Careful not to take her eyes off of the shooting star, she says, “Daddy, I miss you. Oh, Daddy I miss you so much! Come back to me, please?"

The Mystery of the little black book
The Mystery of the little black book It was raining, again. Another long dark cold night. I didn’t want to go out in this kind of weather, but it seemed I had no choice. The message was clear, be on the north corner of 5th and Main at 18:00 if you ever want to see your dog again.

*Notebook
The day he died, my grandfather gave me a small black notebook. The cover was worn and corners were tattered, but he'd been carrying it for as long as I could remember, so I was a surprised when he pressed it into my hands. Perhaps if I'd known he was about to die it would have meant more to me, but at the time it just seemed strange.

Kilend’s Heart Caring for One Another Kilend was a little boy who lives with his mother Lauren and little brother DJ who has Autism. Stolen Birthright
Stolen Birthright By Kristoffer J Martin Bronze and red haze loomed over the dilapidated gabled ends of a late Victorian mansion. Curly-cued shingles lined the roof edge as a bristling mustache casting eerie shadows across a sprawling overgrown courtyard. Dark dusty windows bleakly mirrored the light of Ali’s 1980 BMW Sprinter van. “We’ll fit right in” she thought as the rust bucket squeaked to a stop. With a heave she threw open her door which crunched as it swung open on its sprung rusty hinges.

Scratchers
With the single swipe of a patinaed 1987 penny, came my downfall. I scratched with all the enthusiasm that a middle-aged office worker could afford, the rusty coin scraping the matte aluminum foil away from the neon pink and green card that boasted “WIN UP TO $1,000,000!”

A Letter to Nia
The silence was deafening as the boxes were loaded into the moving truck. Twenty-five years of marriage were over. My mom, Laura, stood motionless in the front room staring out the window as the movers carried boxes and furniture out of the house she shared with my dad for most of her life. They were married right after high school, both at 18 years old. She was the only child. Her mom passed away her senior year of high school and left everything to her. She never knew her dad. He left when she was three years old. Once she graduated high school, her and dad got married and lived in a house that together. My dad was always a loner and never talked about his family. I always had questions, but never pushed it.

The roger's family
The Roger’s family had a business that went from small to franchise. It doesn’t matter for them how long it took but how hard they were working for. Maybe they got help by some of their friends from college, at the end they got there. Anyway looking at the time and the way they got there, you think maybe there’s a mystery around because it’s hard to believe that a business goes from being just a business into a Franchise. Some of their family members didn’t think so, they were arguing about making it happen and it was like a dream that ends in a dream to them.
