Jammin' in Mr. Jim's Studio is an educational music program geared for children to learn life skills, manners, and instruments all through music. Similar to Mr. Roger's Neighborhood in that the show sets out to positively impact the younger generation in becoming the best version of themselves, Mr. Jim is fun, engaging, and informative.
This video is an introduction to who Mr. Jim is as well as what is in his studio. In essence, it gives a glimpse into what to expect when you tune in to the show. The idea for it came from a musician and videographer's common desire to do something meaningful and different to make the world a better place. Jim Gaven, who plays 'Mr. Jim', is a singer/songwriter/musician and founder of Key of Awesome Music. Key of Awesome Music is a mission based music service company who provides group sessions, individual lessons, interactive performances, and original songs for and with those who have developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol addictions, mental health issues, terminal illnesses, Alzheimer's/Dementia, and more (the homeless, poverty-stricken, domestic abuse/violence victims). Nick Donnoli of Nick Donnoli Productions works on projects for anyone looking to tell a compelling story. The majority of his work has been for non-profit organizations and colleges/universities. Back Story:
Mr. Jim and Nick met 8 years ago when Nick interviewed and filmed Mr. Jim for an honor Mr. Jim earned while working at a non-profit agency serving and supporting those with developmental disabilities. They connected immediately over many things in life, especially music. Ever since that first meeting, they kept in touch and started a band, a musical duo named Age of Wisdom. Playing a few shows here and there, they wrote and recorded 2 album's worth of material which can be found on Bandcamp at: www.ageofwisdom.bandcamp.com. Mr. Jim writes all the lyrics and the main acoustic guitar while Nick writes the lead guitar parts. When it comes time to record songs in a full band fashion, they both come up with drum parts, bass guitar, and any other musical instruments or extraneous sounds. They both produce the material, while Nick does the post production and editing/mixing using Logic. The group's music is published by Mr. Jim's company, Key of Awesome Music.
Episodes:
Although only a handful of episodes have been filmed to date, the goal is to have a new one available every month. Due to busy schedules and the current Coronavirus pandemic, filming in person with each other has been put on hold for the foreseeable future. The ones filmed so far are about being positive, supporting your friends, and learning basic rhythms using percussion instruments. Over time, they are looking to teach other basic music concepts using the human voice, ukulele, guitar, and piano.

Musician with a Mission
This is a long video (28 minutes and change) of an interview I did back in 2018 on Princeton TV30. The TV station is a local network that goes out to those living in Mercer and southern Somerset counties. It was an honor to be considered as an interviewee for this network, because it came at a time when I just branched out on my own to start running a business on a full-time basis. It was a side project, if you will, for years, but 1 month prior to this interview, it became the main project. The interviewer, Natasha Sherman, made me feel very comfortable during our conversation, as you may be able to tell when watching. Shot from multiple angles, the interview flowed quite nicely from a production standpoint as well as a content standpoint.

"Shadows in the Sanctuary: A Tale of Childhood Fear"
In the sprawling expanse of my parents' high Ranch-style house, with its split-level layout dividing the living spaces into distinct realms of daily life, I found myself in possession of a unique territory—a bedroom that defied the conventional placement norms. Unlike the rest of the bedrooms perched on the upper floor, mine resided on the lower level, nestled amidst the den, garage, and a convenient bathroom. This strategic positioning, a consequence of being the eldest and sole male among my siblings, granted me not just space but a sense of autonomy that only a basement-bound domain could offer.

Clinging to Childhood
The playground is empty, as it should be past sundown. There is a warm breeze, and I can see everything despite the late hour. What time is it, anyway? It could very well be past midnight. I can never keep track of time, especially in the summer. A prickly piece of popcorn hides like a stowaway in the left cup of my padded training bra. I stuffed the tissue in last minute— a decision I’m beginning to regret, based on the events that are unfolding rapidly before me. To my left, laying non-chalantly on his back, is my date for the evening. He is two years older, could probably grow facial hair if he wanted to, and drives a secondhand Honda. He may as well be a Man. I, on the other hand, feel like a fraud with my too-short short-shorts, sparkly lip gloss, and makeshift push-up bra. I keep my arms pinned to my sides as I feel the dreaded circles of sweat beginning to manifest on my brand new Abercrombie top. I cup my elbows with my hands and stare down at my hint of cleavage, praying that the tissue doesn’t pop out like a white flag surrendouring my lack of womanhood.
