Putting together a trip to Sydney with the family? Sydney is one of Australia's most iconic cities and is chock-full of activities that you can enjoy with the kids. There are water parks, wildlife parks, beaches, and more to explore in this city. Here are some of the best activities you can do and places you can visit during your time in Sydney with your family.

Hit the Beaches

Sydney is home to multiple beaches, but arguably the most famous of them all is Bondi Beach. It's a great place to have a fun day out by the sea with the family. Situated 7 kilometres from the CBD (Central Business District), Bondi Beach is about a 20-minute cab drive away from Sydney hotels in the CBD such as Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough Suites. This beach is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in the whole of Australia, so do make sure to add it to your itinerary while you're in Sydney.

Gaze at the Stars

Spend an afternoon at the Sydney Observatory, which overlooks Sydney Harbour. The observatory was built in the mid-19th century and is an important part of Sydney's heritage. It was built in the very location on which it now stands because of the height advantage that it has over the Sydney Harbour. The observatory is actually located at the highest point over the harbour.

Visit the Wildlife

Do your kids like all things scaly? Take them over to the Australian Reptile Park. Despite the name, it's home to more than just crocodiles, snakes, and tortoises. At the park, you can also see koalas, bilbies, kangaroos, and many other mammals as well. It will take a drive of about 60 minutes to get there from Sydney, so pencil it in as an excursion to enjoy during your time in this city.

To see a more diverse range of wildlife, take the kids over to Taronga Zoo. At the zoo, one of the trademark activities for which you can sign up is called the 'Roar and Snore'. This includes an unforgettable sleepover within the zoo, which also involves a fun 1.5-hour walk to observe all the zoo animals that are active at night.

To see even more wildlife, you can also spend some time at the Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park. This park houses well over 1,500 animals that are native to Australia. You can see kangaroos, wombats, owls, and koalas as well as a range of endangered wildlife species here. Make sure to stop by the souvenir shop before you leave to get a little keepsake that the kids can remember the trip by.

Head to the Blue Mountains Heritage Site

A truly jaw-dropping scenic destination, the Blue Mountains have something to offer the whole family. Set off on a trek and or ride a cable car and enjoy breathtaking views of the mountain, waterfalls and valleys, and the lush canopies of an ancient rainforest. Apart from taking in the scenery, there are also plenty of things to do here. Your outdoors-loving kids will be thrilled to know that they can partake in activities such as abseiling, mountain climbing, and more. They will also have the opportunity to head far inside the Jenolan Caves. Once inside, there is a whole new world to discover featuring underground rivers and crystals made of limestone.

Check out the Sydney Opera House

A trip to Sydney won't be complete without a visit to the most iconic landmark in the city's skyline. Take the kids there and let them appreciate the beautiful views of both the architecture as well as the harbour and sea.
