What is the best food for babies? Of course, it is natural breast milk. But as babies grow up they need to slowly say goodbye to breast milk, and mothers prepare some supplementary food for their babies while feeding them breast milk to supplement their nutrition.

What kind of complementary food should mothers prepare for their babies to make them eat nutritious and healthy?

For babies who have been breastfeeding, it is a big challenge and breakthrough to suddenly start eating food. So your baby's first bite of food is not only about your baby's recent nutrition and growth and development, but also about your baby's long-term health as an adult.

Adding complementary foods to your baby is a learning curve.

The World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health recommend that babies should be exclusively breastfed until six months of age and that no additional water should be added. Food should not be introduced until the baby is six months old.

Mothers can choose to feed their babies single-ingredient infant rice flour, which means rice flour that contains only one type of rice, such as rice flour.

It is also important that the supplemental food you add to your baby contains iron that can be absorbed by your baby. Because all the iron in your baby's body is consumed at birth during this period, you should add foods high in iron to your baby at around six months.

Babies are not suitable for complex foods when they are first exposed to complementary foods. Mothers try not to go for foods containing eggs, wheat, peanuts, and other ingredients to avoid increasing the risk of allergies in babies.

When babies try rice flour for the first time, they should pay attention to the amount of rice flour should not exceed 5g, because when they first start to eat, the main thing is to let the baby adapt to the eating thing, not to eat enough. So feeding milk after eating rice flour should not make your baby reject the supplement because of hunger.

Rice flour should also be made slightly thinner by adding more water according to the brewing instructions. Choose a feeding time for your baby around 10:00 a.m. so that the mother has more time to observe if your baby has an allergic reaction.

In the beginning, you can feed your baby only once a day and breastfeed for the rest of the day. After that, slowly increase the proportion of complementary foods over time, and then after a week, observe the baby's reaction. If the baby is happy with the food, you can also add other ingredients, such as vegetable puree, fruit puree, and so on.

But it is best to add only one variety at a time, in case an allergic reaction occurs and it is not clear which food is causing the allergy.

After one month, the number of supplemental feedings can be increased from once to twice a day, and the rice flour is mixed from puree to a thick paste. During this time baby's teeth start to grow and mothers can add teething bars as well as some new foods for their babies. It is advisable to add them in the morning and observe them and eat foods that do not cause allergic reactions in the afternoon to ensure the baby's safety.

When adding complementary foods to their baby, mothers must keep the original taste of the food and not add sugar, salt, and other condiments. When buying and choosing complementary foods, choosing foods with high iron content can help your baby better absorb nutrients and increase your baby's vitality so that he or she can grow strong. Your baby should receive only one type of food at a time, and slowly add variety to your baby's diet to keep him or her from becoming anorexic. Mothers can also encourage their children to eat more, but do not force them to eat all, to develop good eating habits. Finally, mothers must pay attention to food hygiene and eating safety!
