Full time nanny

Maybe you are stuck at work or need to complete a presentation within a short amount of time. You hardly have any time to think about your child because you are so overwhelmed with deadlines. Yet, your little child really needs a support system that will help them with day-to-day tasks, such as getting washed up, get ready for school, eat and also to get to bed on time. Who can help you manage all these activities and be with your child when you are busy at work? Well, a full-time nanny is what you really need to consider.

A nanny is a well-trained professional who takes care of children of all ages, they will take over the role of a parent while you are at work. From preparing a well-balanced meal to tucking them in to bed, a nanny will do everything you require from them for your child. If needed, they can be in a live-in situation, especially if they are needed to full-time.

So, you may have no other option but to have a full-time nanny service help you with child-care. You will need to prepare a comfortable room and space for her to feel at home which will make it so much more natural and for the nanny and your kids to live in the same home together. Most importantly, your kids need to like their nanny in order for them to accept them into their lives.

  1. Plan for the big day:

You need to plan for the arrival of your nanny. They will be coming into a home that they are not familiar with, so make sure to make your home and their space ready for them. If the new nanny will be living with you, you need to expect that your preparation will be significantly more. You will have to prepare a room that is adequately furnished, not just with furniture but ensure that they have clean, preferably new, bedding and towels, do they have enough storage, will they have their own bathroom or will they share one with the family? Make sure that these things are figured out before the nanny arrives, to make the day more welcoming.

2. Tell the children about the nanny:

It may not be difficult for you to adjust and welcome a new member in to the family but the same may not be the case for you child. Children tend to be resistant to change and find it difficult to adjust to strangers. They will be facing a whole new situation, one that they may have not experienced before, which will make it really difficult for them to adjust. But if you set the stage and prepare your child by telling them about the nanny and what your child can expect from them you will be helping them get rid of some of their anxiety that they may be experiencing. So, when the time finally comes to welcome the new nanny, your kids will be more welcoming towards her.

3. Letting the children ask questions:

Once you have introduced the subject of a nanny to your child it is very important to listen to what they have to say. Don’t push away any concerns they might have. Let them speak their mind and encourage them to ask questions. If your child has some concerns or if they are old enough to want to establish some ground rules, listen to them and make sure to address these concerns. Setting this strong foundation with your child will make it so much more pleasant for them to meet the new nanny.

4. Highlighting the major attributes:

Not every child will be excited about a nanny, especially if this is the first time. They may want to know why they need to be supervised by a random stranger? Why can’t their mommy and daddy be by their side when they need parents the most? If you have answered these questions for yourself and are convinced of your reasons you will be able to share these feeling with your child. There are many books and movies that have great examples of how nannies are a great and fun addition to the family. Show them the positive side of having a nanny and how much fun it will be!

Some time to adjust:

It will take time to adjust. Not just for the kids, but for the parents as well. It will take some time to adjust to a new nanny in the family. However, after a period of time, the nanny’s presence will be a new normal for the family. To make this transition easier make sure to provide the nanny with all the relevant phone numbers and contact details in case she needs to make emergency calls. The contact information should include:

  • School phone numbers
  • Phone number of family doctor
  • Close friends and relatives

Also, make sure to introduce and let other family members and friends know of this addition to the family. Introduce the nanny to the school and the teachers, and anyone else that the nanny may encounter or need to deal with.

Your nanny will need a of house keys and access cards for any kind of community centers, libraries, activity centers that you attend as a family.

If you want the best service from your nanny, then you need to make your home a warm and inviting place for them.

Make them part of the family:

As you are looking for a full-time nanny keep in mind that they will be an integral part of your family. It is up to you if they feel welcome and at home from the very beginning. Once they are settled in, they can give their 100% attention to take care of your child.

When you are looking for a nanny, whether live-in or not, make sure that you have a list of things that are important for you and your family. Keep this list handy while interviewing potential nannies or speaking with a nanny service that will help you hire a nanny for your child. Always look for the best nanny services, they can help you find the best nanny for you and will help you conduct background checks and work experience checks.
