A family outing to the beach is one to be looked forward to. It is also a trip that most parents have to plan for. Well, for starters, you’ve got to deal with loads of sand, the occasional toddler trying to eat sand, and all that sand you trek back to your hotel room. But the beach is also loads of fun; thus, outweighing the negative. And so, to have the best family seaside escapade, here’s how to plan a beach trip with kids.

1.Plan to Hit the Beach Early or Late Evening

The success of a beach day with kids lies in everyone not getting too hot and bothered. You can avoid the hot weather and damaging UV rays by not taking your kids to the beach mid-afternoon. Therefore, a trip to the beach should be in the earlier part of the day, failing which you can visit the sands in the evenings. Hugely popular beach destinations like Bali, offer convenient seaside accommodation. And families with kids will feel right at home booking accommodation at modern Bali serviced apartments, which are located within walking distance of the beach. If this is your preference, check out Citadines Berawa Beach Bali or top Kuta Bali beach hotels.

2.Get Serous About the Sunscreen

Before you enjoy loads of fun at the beach, make sure you and your family are protected. The sun’s UV rays can be very damaging and you need proper protection. Hence, slathering on sunscreen is the best answer. Pack plenty of your favourite brand – kiddies and adult versions both. You may not find the brand you or your kids like in a foreign destination. What works is the entire family rubbing on lots of sunscreen, waiting for it to be absorbed and then getting dressed for the beach. If you have to rub the second batch of sunscreen while out, set the alarm on your phone to remind you about re-applying sunscreen on your kids and yourselves.

3.Pack Plenty of Turkish Towels

While your serviced apartment in Bali will supply towels, it’s always wise to pack extra when travelling with kids. Turkish towels are best for travel because they are flat weave, which is not as fluffy as the terrycloth ones but just as absorbent. Best of all, they take up half the space of a normal towel.

4. Take along Refillable Water Bottles

You will need to make sure the entire family stays well hydrated while touring the beach. Tropical destinations like Bali have much to be explored, and while the beach will certainly be your favoured spot throughout the tour, you will want to explore the lush interiors. Touring the island of Bali, or any other tropical destination requires your entire troupe to stay well hydrated. And packing a refillable water bottle for each member of the family is a smart idea.

5.Pack Smart for Your Beach Holiday

A good rule to follow is to pack minimal toys. Don’t overcrowd your baggage with too many toys. A child at the beach will be more than happy with a bucket and spade, and that is all you need to take along.

Other necessities to pack include hats for everyone, shades for those who will be wearing them, anti-bacterial hand wipes, zip lock bags to put wet swimsuits into, a small medicine bag with the necessities to treat cuts, grazes, minor sprains and insect bites, and extra sunscreen.

6.Choose the Best Location

Setting off on a beach holiday to Bali or other tropical destinations, with kids, means you must book a hotel with top amenities, and be in a location convenient for parents. Ideally, pick a hotel close to restaurants, shops, entertainment, and of course, the beach!

Enjoy happy days!
