Imagine one day your girlfriend tells you that she no longer has an apartment, she actually lives with you. I mean, all her stuff was there anyway and she spent all her time there so she didn't think she needed an her own apartment anymore. So, you shrug your shoulders and...never ask her to leave. Accidentally, you have a live-in girlfriend.

Imagine a moment where the woman you've been banging, or even only slept with only once, informs you that she's pregnant. She's knocked up, and nine months later, a kid pops out. You become a parent, but it was all an accident... of course.

Imagine you wake up every day and go to a job that you absolutely loathe. But your boss has never fired you and you're actually pretty good at what you do. You could probably do it in your sleep. And let's not forget that it pays the bills and evereyone needs a roof over their head and food to eat. This is a job you got right out of college just by chance because your parents knew the owners. Accidentally, you landed in your career.

Imagine you live in the town you were born in. You've always lived there and it had never occurred to you that you could live somewhere else. I mean, why would you? You were born there, and everyone you know lives there. And even though this place doesn't resonate with your soul, you continue to live there because, well, that's what you've always known.

Welcome to your Accidental Life!!!

Your Accidental Life is a place where the only decision you ever make is to not make any decisions. Every thing that happens to you is a choice that someone else has made for you, and you just go along with it. You never discover where in the world you belong because you're afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. You don't ever find what you're passionate about because of your fear of the unknown and your addiction to a "secure" life in the form of a paycheck. You never actually meet your true soulmate, the One you're meant to be with because what's right in front of you seems ok. And you're deathly afraid of being alone and what that might mean. Would it mean that you're damaged? Or not good enough for someone to love?

On the last day of your Accidental Life, as you take your last breath, you realize that you missed your chance. All those years you had and you never did one freaking single thing on purpose. It was all an accident. This realization crushes your soul when it becomes apparent to you that it's too late.

I don't want to live an Accidental Life...DO YOU???

If any of what I'm saying resonates with you, and even might make you a little angry, then you're ready to leave behind your Accidental Life and start living a life on purpose. And it's never too late. But where do you even begin? I've come up with a few easy things that literally anyone can do. Keep in mind that you don't have to start doing all of things right now. And you certainly don't need to get a divorce, quit your job and move to Africa (although I'm sure someone has done just that and been thrilled with their decisions).

Realize That Your Soul Chose To Be Here

The first thing that you need to accept is the fact that your soul chose to be here, at this time, in the exact place where you are sitting right now, looking like you do and surrounded by the people you're surrounded with. You chose your gender, your nationality, your parents, your siblings and your romantic partners. You chose your shortcomings and handicaps. You chose your trauma, your abuse, your losses. I know this sounds completely far fetched because: why would anyone choose trauma? Why on earth would your soul choose to be born to abusive parents, or with a handicap, or into a war torn, starving, third world country. WHY?

Well, simply put: because your soul, your higher self, knew exactly what it needed in order to grow and learn. We are born onto this planet (or into other galaxies) again and again until we have learned evereything there is to know.

But without a doubt, you chose to be here, on earth, in a body and for a specific purpose. What that purpose is, only you know. And if you don't know what that purpose is, you need to get in touch with your higher self and find out. Before it's too late. But if you're breathing right now, it's not too late. If you're reading this sentence (are you still with me?), it's because your soul was calling you to do so. There are no accidents in life, only an Accidental Life. Which by now if you're still reading these words you've decided to transcend beyond that and find the deeper meaning of why you are here.

You're not going to discover your life purpose over night. Sometimes it takes people many, many years to find out what that is and others are born already knowing it. Either way, now that you're aware of what you're supposed to be doing while in this body, here are some things that have helped me discover what my Life's purpose is:

Travel More Often

By Eva Darron on Unsplash

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. The excitment surrounding deciding where to go, planning out all the details, packing the appropriate outfits I will need combined with the idea of not being in my "regular" life (without work or kid responsibilities) and that I will be free to go and do whatever my heart desires is one of my passions! Traveling is always an adventure!

One of the benefits of traveling is about experiencing different people and cultures. We can often get "bored" of where we are at in life, even if everything seems to be going great. Make a commitment to yourself to visit a new place, somewhere you've never been, as often as you can. It could be the greatest trip of your life or it could be filled with delays, unexpected cancellations or nasty people, but that's the fun in it! Your mindset of just going with the flow is what can make it either a good experience or a bad one. It's an adventure...you never know what you might find or who you might meet.

We've all lived many lifetimes. Sit with yourself and ask yourself this: Where in the world have I always wanted to go? Your soul is calling you there, listen to it. Pay attention to how you feel when you're there. Are you experiencing any deja vu moments? Are you walking down the street and feel like you may have been there before? It's probably because you have...in another lifetime. By reconnecting with places our soul has been before we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and why we do the things we do. I've had many trips that are literally life changing experiences!

Be open To Meeting New People

Now that I've brought up reincarnation and the fact that we've all lived many lifetimes before this one, it's safe to say that we've interacted with many different souls over the centuries as well. Each person we met is meant to teach us something or we are meant to learn something from them. It matters not how brief the encounter is, it is always profound.

Every person has a "soul tribe", and it's not necessarily everyone you currently know. Be open to meeting new people, wherever you go. Randomly chat people up, in line at the grocery store, sitting next to you on a airplane, your Uber driver...you catch my drift. Yes, I'm that chatty girl that's always talking because I'm interested in people! Everyone has a unique story to tell, you just might learn something or gain a new friend. Maybe he or she has struggled with the same thing you are grappling with right now, and can give you some sound advice about how they overcame that. Hey-you just never know.

Take Up A Hobby

By Earl Wilcox on Unsplash

Oh, you think you're too old to try something new? Chew on this: Samuel Jackson, one of my favorite actors (and the highest grossing actor of all time), didn't start acting at an early age, in fact, he found his passion later in life. He didn't even have a hit film until he was 40 years old. Vera Wang, a famous designer known for her divine bridal gowns didn't start her own business and become a household name until she was 40 as well. I always say "Life begins at 40", but I think that's a whole other blog post and I'll save that for another day. You may say, "Oh, but I'm 75, so what's the point"? Well, you're still breathing, aren't you? It's never too late to try something new.

For right now, think of a hobby you can take up. Adult ballet classes? Salsa dancing lessons? Knitting? Rock Climbing? Pottery making? Art classes? Do you want to learn how to play drums? You neighbors might hate you, but who cares? Whatever it is, do it now. It doesn't matter if you're any good at it or even if you enjoy doing it (obviously if you don't enjoy it, move on to something else). Science shows that trying something new actually forms new neural pathways in your brain. You can think of it as "brain exercise", to stave off Alzheimer's disease. You just might stumble upon something you're absolutely passionate about and you're quite good at, thank you very much! Have fun with it, there are no rules. You don't have to show anyone that canvas that you think is an embarrassment. The point is to get out of your comfort zone...that is where the magic happens!

Today is the day my friend, to stop living an Accidental Life. Use your intuition to find out what makes your heart sing. Go with that gut feeling if you have this nagging feeling that you're meant for something more. Stop letting other people make decisions for you, are they living your life? Ahem, no, they are not. There is a world of possibilities out there...the only limitations there are are in your mind.
