Mary Clark

This story is about my grandmother Mary Clark. She was born in midland ontario canada. She had lost most of her hearing as a child due to a disease that was going around. She was a strong Catholic woman, she had helped people as much as possible she had a cooking group she held for the woman in her building. She had ran a BNB for few years in midland. She was a lounge singer which people would hire her to preform nightly at many events, she had sang for al capone at his clubhouse often. She had sung with a band called the skyliners and had been commented on how well she had sung by a famous opra singer. She had an article in the newspaper about her singing career that started from when she was a child and how she started. She was an amazing woman loved by many. Sadly she had passed away many years ago but will never be forgotten. Songs that she was requested by many were tiny bubbles, summertime, crazy, and women. She had also made songs for events such as weddings birthdays. She had many telents. She had friends that were unexpected to be around. She was a model aswell. Mary and her brother would travel quite often sometimes I was aloud to come along. Unfortunately my grandfather was not the best person he had lied to everyone for years. He had a secret family on the side. She had once told me about a dream she had years ago that everyone thought was hilarious. Her dream was that she had a date with a men she knew, when he came over to her place he had taken his head off, she had told him he had to put it back on cause he would scare her daughter. She had some funny moments such as when we had brought our dog over to see her she came outside asking why we brought a monkey over. I still remember one time she was coming home from grocery store with her buggy and the wheel had got caught in the cracks in the sidewalk she had fell and hit her head there was teenagers sitting at the taco bell right beside her and they just laughed and didn't help. She came home with a bloody lip. A friend of hers had stopped by and she had explained what happened as soon as she did he got on his bike and was gone. Few minutes later he had showed up with these teens that didn't help. They had to apologize to her and had to help her with her groceries. I always thought that was amazing. I remember her telling me when I was younger that a celebrity who was the little girl on all in the family used to come over to play with my mom. Years ago I had went to midland to check out the house she use to live in and is now a antique shop. There is a mural on the side of a building in midland that has her grandfather as one of the log rollers on it. When she had got sick from cancer there was nothing that could be done it had gone through out her whole body. While in the hospital she had sang for the nurses one of the nurses had sung with her it was beautiful. She had told the whole family that while she was laying in the hospital bed she seen all her family members who had passed away standing around her bed and at the head of her bed there was a black men staring down at her and that she didn't know who he was. They had told us that before she goes she wouldn't be able to talk that's how we would know that's she going, but she had kept talking till she had gone to sleep and a hour later she was gone. I had kept many things when she had passed that were hers and still have them I've noticed her purse and jacket still smell like her years later. I still play her songs that we were able to record before she passed still give me chills when I hear her voice.
