Employee recreation-A necessity not a Luxury
A small note on my personal experience about a recreational activity in my workplace

Employee recreations - A necessity, not a luxury
I recently came across a meme saying we pay house rent to our house only to stay 8-10 hours in the workplace. That makes sense right? Aren’t we all spending most of our days planning and managing our workload? Professional spaces are now dragged into our personal lives and it’s been really hard to draw a boundary between these two. Every office and every department faces the same challenges.
We all are seeing various news about employees' workloads, and how a woman in Bangalore traffic drives while using a laptop. Aren't they all an alarming call to companies to limit the workload? Companies need to take care of the employees who work for them. A happy employee will make better progress. Monetary benefits are not only a way to keep employees happy. Recognition, Retreats, Events, and vacations are all contributors that will boost employee productivity.
Recently, my company organized a “Family Fiesta” in which all the employees could bring in their families and enjoy the event. The event was filled with dance, music, and fun games which were enjoyed by all. More than 25 stalls were put up which included dress, stationery, food, games, and others. There was a separate kids' area in which a kid's play area was set up. To see all those little feet jumping in the air was such a pleasure.
Bringing your family to the place you work to meet the people you work with was a different experience. To see people bond over shared experiences, laughter, and joy beyond the workplace was truly heartwarming. Events like these remind us that work isn’t just about deadlines and targets; it’s also about building a community where employees feel valued and supported.
Companies that invest in employee well-being create a more motivated and engaged workforce. A little appreciation goes a long way in boosting morale and productivity. Here’s how this family fiesta boosted the minds of our company employees
Bringing families to the workplace helps employees connect with their colleagues on a more personal level. When people get to know each other beyond work discussions, it creates a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
With increasing workloads and workplace pressures, employees often feel drained. A fun-filled event like a Family Fiesta provides them with a well-deserved break, helping them relax and return to work with a refreshed mindset.
Celebrating employees with their families present makes recognition even more meaningful. It allows their loved ones to see the appreciation they receive, reinforcing their value in the organization.
When a company organizes such events, it shows that it cares about employees beyond just their work output. Encouraging family participation sends a message that work-life balance is important, leading to greater employee satisfaction.
Employees feel more connected to the company when they see their workplace embracing such initiatives. This fosters loyalty and motivates them to contribute positively to the organization.
It was such a relaxing day which was a recharge to the exhausted team. Especially to see our kids have fun is all we want. When my kid badly wanted a hand painting we went to the stall where I came across the app- KiddeBudde. It was a unique initiative where the app allowed parents to swap toys and books. They have delivery partners who would facilitate the exchange. While my daughter had her painting I explored the app and found various interesting features. This was a great experience for getting to know new concepts like these. Events like these aren’t just a recreational activity but an investment in the employees. Don’t you all agree?
