Easy Ways To Get Stains Out Of The Mattress

Before you start cleaning your mattress it is important to to remove the stains. Here are some ways in which you can remove different kinds of stains from the mattress.

Removing Vomit And Sweat Stains: Sweat stains are the most common to get on the mattress and it is something that is not we can control, at night we are asleep often we sweat and that moisture goes in the mattress.

First damp the stain with warm water. Then in a spray bottle mix 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, 3tbsp baking soda and 1 tbsp of dishwashing liquid. Spray the solution over the stains and rub it gently with the help of a brush or clean cloth until the stain starts fading. And then clean the area with water again and dry.

Cleaning Urine Stains: If you have kids at home then urine stains on the mattress is something which is really unavoidable. And that's the thing you are really fed up with doing, here’s how you can do it easily.

In a spray bottle mix ¾ cup hydrogen peroxide, 2 tbsp baking soda and a few drops of any essential oils you like. Essential oil will help in eradicating the urine smell . Spray this solution over the stain and leave it for about 45-50 minutes. Then rub it with the help of a clean cloth and wipe it with water and dry.

Treating Blood Stains: For removing the dried blood stains make a paste using ¼ cup hydrogen peroxide, 1 tbsp salt and 1 tbsp dishwashing liquid. The paste should not be of runny consistency, it should have a thick consistency. Apply the paste on the stains and let it dry. Once it is dried, scrape it with the help of a brush, wipe that area with water and dry.

Use Vinegar To Clean Food Stains: If you have the habit of eating food at your bed like many people have then you are used to getting the food stains on the mattress, but don’t know how to clean them. Use vinegar and see how wonderful it works.

Mix 1⁄4 cup vinegar , ¼ cup washing detergent and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Spray it over the stained areas and rub it to help any clean cloth and leave for 20 minutes. Then bolt the stain with a dry cloth and then wipe that area with water and dry.

How To Clean The Mattress At Home?

Once you are done with removing the stains it’s time to clean the mattress. If you are thinking whether you can do it at home or not, or if it's such a tedious task, well that’s not the case you can easily and safely do it at your home.

Firstly vacuum clean the mattress to remove any dust and dirt particles. Then treat the stains if any using above mentioned ways.

After that, make a solution using 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, 2 tbsp baking soda, 1 tbsp of dishwashing liquid and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Pour the solution in a spray bottle and spray it all over the mattress and leave it for an hour. Then rub the surface with the help of cloth and allow it to dry. Vacuum clean again to remove any residues of baking soda.

Disinfecting The Mattress

After cleaning the next thing you need to do frequently is to disinfect the mattress. Particularly nowadays in the time of “Covid” it’s a must do thing. While you are taking all the precautionary measures, disinfecting the mattress is also important as you spend a lot of time of your day sitting or lying down in bed.

For making a homemade sanitizer all you need is 2 cups of rubbing alcohol , 2 tbsp of tea tree oil and a few drops of lemon, lavender and eucalyptus oil. Spray this solution over the mattress and allow it to dry completely.
