Diapers restrained little Dawnxi

After our daughter, little Dawnxi, learned to walk, we noticed the problems associated with little Dawnxi's diaper use. A girl's vulva and genitals are very close together, so if she wears diapers for a long time, stool and urine cannot be removed and washed in a timely manner, which is more likely to cause urinary tract infections and genital infections. Moreover, because diapers also contain chemical components, the stimulation of urine immersion or stool fluid can also cause children to become allergic to diaper components, which can cause inflammatory reactions such as diaper rash, infection, or eczema on the child's delicate skin.

On the other hand, wearing diapers all day long is not only detrimental to the child's normal walking, but especially in summer when the weather is hot and the child is prone to sweating, wearing them for a long time is more likely to cause some skin problems than in other seasons. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the use of diapers in an early and orderly manner.

On the other hand, guiding little Dawnxi to "go to the toilet" by herself is an important stage in her life and a learning process that will not only help little Dawnxi develop good hygiene habits, but more importantly, develop her self-confidence and enhance her sense of self-esteem. This will have a great impact on little Dawnxi's future psychological development and growth. It also meant that we had to put in enough time and patience.

Between the ages of almost one and a half and two years old, we noticed that little Dawnxi would sometimes stop suddenly while reading a picture book or playing with a toy, and her facial expression would change, which seemed to indicate that she had noticed that she was peeing and pooping. We chose some picture book stories about babies going to the toilet by themselves to read to her and also let her watch some cartoon TV shows about babies going to the toilet to prepare little Dawnxi mentally for going to the toilet by herself.

We got to know little Dawnxi's urine and stool patterns, for example, she would urinate after waking up and sometimes after meals. Based on these patterns we asked her every once in a while if she wanted to pee or poop.

Meanwhile, together with little Dawnxi, we searched the internet for some cute baby toilets. We then purchased one of these baby toilets that was practical and that little Dawnxi loved.

At first, little Dawnxi thought the baby toilet was a new toy, so we let little Dawnxi sit on the toilet and let her feel the sensation. After this we let little Dawnxi try it every day and sit for a few minutes.

Once little Dawnxi had a stronger feeling about the baby toilet, we promptly explained to her the relationship between the baby toilet and peeing and pooping. She was slowly told that she should use the baby toilet to pee and poop on her own while encouraging little Dawnxi to take action.

When little Dawnxi finished her poop on the baby toilet, we praised her and happily encouraged her to continue doing so. Our praise and encouragement were the motivation for her progress. Watching our excitement made her more motivated to do it.

Now that Little Dawnxi is over two years old, we try not to use diapers during the day, but since Little Dawnxi sometimes sleeps so deeply at night that it's hard to get her up to use the baby potty, we still let her use diapers appropriately, but as little as possible. Our goal is to be able to go completely diaper free by the time little Dawnxi is three years old.
