Chapter 10

For the third time in five minutes, a sexy older girl named Lucinda grimaced at Big Shorty. She wore a black halter top and was leaning on the seat in front of hers. Big Shorty could see the outline of her hard nipples as the bumpy ride made her breasts sway from side to side. She had sepia eyes and smooth chocolate skin. He also noticed that he could smell her perfume that was strong, yet subtle, even though she sat in the seat across from his. Big Shorty's hormones began to rage as everything about her turned him on.

"I like the way you play ball. Can I have a hug?" Big Shorty's face turned to Lucinda, then scooted over to the edge of his seat. They both reached out to embrace each other and as Lucinda hugged him, she lifted her head and kissed him lightly on the forehead. "Aaawwww!", came in choruses from the other kids on the bus who witnessed their intimacy. The bus came to a stop in front of Big Shorty's house. Without a word to Lucinda, Big Shorty got off the bus, bounced up the stairs to the apartment, then dug into his baggy jeans for his keys and in one swift movement, he opened the door and disappeared inside the apartment.

Lucinda had watched all of this, noticing that her kitty had gotten moist from the brief episode. Big Shorty threw his books on the dining room table and went to his room to put on a Tupac cd. His grandfather poked his head into his room and he finally said, "Maybe we can make you a little hoop with a crate in the backyard". Big Shorty looked at his grandfather and smiled his assent. From Big Shorty's room, they both heard his grandma turn on her car alarm. Big Shorty's grandma came in wearing her work clothes, which consisted of the typical administrative look. Her body showed the fatigue that had built up throughout the day. After laying down her things, she relieved herself by sitting down on the couch.

No sooner than she had sat down, the phone rang, which sat on the coffee table near the couch. She answered the phone and on the other end, "Hello, mother. Can I talk with Tyrone?" It was Victoria. "Okay, just a minute", said his grandma with the fatigue trailing in her voice. "Tyrone! Your mother's on the phone", his grandma called after him. Big Shorty clicked off his television and shouted, "Here I come, grandma", as he rushed to the phone and bounced on the plastic covered couch next to his grandmother.

His grandmother turned over to him with a smile. "Hi, mom. How are you doing?", asked Big Shorty. Victoria cleared her throat before she spoke, and with a cinematic voice, she replied, "I miss the man of the house. Come over for the weekend". The thought of going home put Big Shorty in a foul mood. "Well try not to sound too excited", Victoria said. There was an uncomfortable silence. "I'm not coming over there so you can whoop me!", exclaimed Big Shorty. Victoria pleaded, "I'm not going to whoop you. I just miss my little man Tyrone". Big Shorty's heart fluttered as he realized how much he missed his mother.

"Okay, mommy. This weekend. Goodbye", said Big Shorty. "Bye, Tyrone", responded Victoria. Big Shorty hung up the phone and kissed his grandma on the cheek as she relaxed on the couch. "You look like your uncle Ben", said his grandma. Big Shorty didn't know who uncle Ben was, but he got up from the couch and went to raid the refrigerator. His grandparents kept plenty of food in the house. His grandpa stood behind Big Shorty in the kitchen leaning against the counter, when Big Shorty asked, "Grandpa, can you drop me off at my mom's this weekend?" His grandpa threw his arms around Big Shorty's shoulders and said, "Please, don't get into trouble over at your mother's house", as he feigned a smile while looking at Big Shorty. Big Shorty looked up at his grandfather and smiled back.
