Beach Trip Of Gold

The summer was always a season to look forward to. Especially for the Bobby Family. The parents, Linda and Larry, were photographers. On their vacation, they wanted to take their two kids to the Beach. They were five year old twins,Molly and Mark.

One day Larry said, "Our schedule is clear, let's take that beach vacation we've been saving for." So they packed up and drove to this beach house. Looking out the back sliding glass door and seeing this breathtaking beach. Nice blue water, white sand, and a snack bar.

When they arrived at the beach house, it was late. They unpacked their suitcases a little and went to bed. The next morning it was so sunny and hot. The family had a delicious bacon and eggs breakfast out on the patio as they looked at the bright blue water. They already had their bathing suits on. When breakfast was over, the kids grabbed their pails, and shovels, and out on the beach, they went.

The father grabbed the camera while mom cleaned up breakfast. They waited for mom to come out before going in the water. The father was standing on the dock taking pictures. He saw a big boat go by. He and the mom grabbed the kids out of water because the waves would have knocked them down. He took the family to the snack bar for lunch until the water calmed down.

Then, after dinner, everyone fell asleep. Molly woke up, opened the sliding glass door, and went on the beach. As she stared out on the waters she was amazed. The water was sparkling. She believed there was gold down there. As she reached she felt something tickle her arm. She back up, and look to see what it was. To her surprise, this mermaid on a seahorse comes out of the water.

"Hello, little girl," the mermaid said. Molly was amazed at her discovery. Molly said, “Sorry I was looking for gold.” The mermaid smiled and said, "My dear, there is no gold in the water. It sparkles from the moonlight. " After hearing that, Molly felt finding this mermaid on a seahorse was a treasure.

Molly loves mermaids. The Mermaid said, " You should go back to bed and we will talk later." Molly was so speechless. She did what she was told. She tried to tell her brother but he didn't listen. He was trying to sleep.

The next morning Molly was telling her mom and dad about her discovery. They thought she dreamed it up. So after breakfast, Molly went where she saw the Mermaid and called out to but she never came. She enjoyed the rest of the day. That night she went out again to find the Mermaid. She came the same way before. Molly explains how nobody believes her. The Mermaid could see how upset Molly was. The Mermaid said, "My dear, grown-ups don't believe in us. For them seeing is believing. For you believing is seeing." The Mermaid told Molly to suggest having the family go on the boat ride to the Mermaid show-Lunch-event the next day. Molly did exactly that. Her parents and brother agreed to go along. That afternoon, they got on this huge boat. They sat as it shipped from the dock. They went off to the dining room for the buffet lunch. Then the captain called out, “We are entering the Mermaid show.”

The family sat on the bottom deck so Molly could see her mermaid. The show is almost over and Molly has not seen her Mermaid with seahorse until the final act. The Mermaid came right up to Molly and gave her a golden heart. The Mermaid said, "Thank you for believing. You have a heart of gold" The parents were surprised. They apologized for not believing their daughter and took amazing photos of the Mermaid and Seahorse with the twins and the whole family. When they got home they made a scrapbook and the trip was one to remember, and gold. By Kelly Vedder
