Growing up, Emily had always admired her mother. She was strong, independent, and always put her family first. Emily's mother worked tirelessly to provide for her and her siblings, and Emily never once doubted her mother's love for them. That is, until Emily became a mother herself.

Emily had always been close with her mother, but as she started to raise her own children, she noticed something was off. Her mother would constantly criticize her parenting decisions, telling her she was doing it all wrong. Emily tried to brush it off, thinking her mother was just being protective, but it only got worse.

It wasn't until Emily's youngest child was born that things came to a head. Emily had always wanted a big family, and her youngest was no exception. She adored her baby boy and couldn't wait to introduce him to her family. But when her mother came to visit, everything changed.

Her mother was cold and distant towards Emily's son, barely acknowledging him. Emily couldn't believe it. This was her mother, the woman who had always put her family first. Emily confronted her mother, but all she got in return was a cold, blank stare.

Emily's world was turned upside down. She couldn't understand why her mother would act this way towards her own grandson. It wasn't until Emily's sister reached out to her that she learned the truth.

Her mother had been harboring a secret for years. She had never wanted children and had only had them because she felt it was expected of her. Emily was devastated. How could her mother, the woman she had looked up to her entire life, be so selfish?

Emily struggled to come to terms with her mother's betrayal. It wasn't just the fact that her mother had lied to her for so long, it was the way she had treated her own children. Emily couldn't imagine not wanting her own kids. She loved them more than anything in the world.

As Emily tried to navigate this new reality, she found solace in her own children. They were the reason she had always wanted a big family, and they were the reason she would never make the same mistake her mother had.

Years went by, and Emily tried to rebuild her relationship with her mother. It was never the same, but she tried to forgive her for the sake of her own children. It wasn't until Emily's mother became ill that things changed once again.

Emily's mother was diagnosed with cancer, and Emily was the only family member who was able to care for her. Emily struggled with the decision to help her mother, but ultimately, she couldn't turn her back on her.

As Emily cared for her mother, she began to see her in a different light. Her mother was no longer the strong, independent woman she had once idolized. She was vulnerable, scared, and in need of her daughter's love.

Over time, Emily and her mother were able to rebuild their relationship. It wasn't easy, and there were still moments of hurt and anger, but they both knew they needed each other. As Emily's mother's health deteriorated, Emily was there to hold her hand and comfort her.

In the end, Emily's mother passed away, but not before she was able to make amends with her daughter. Emily realized that her mother had been struggling with her own demons for years, and it wasn't until she was on her deathbed that she was finally able to confront them.

As Emily looked back on her relationship with her mother, she realized that love is a complicated thing. It can make us do.
