I am sure i am correct to say that our childhood days were one of the most precious days when we could have been taught about financial literacy and some other crucial life lessons. Instead of this, quite a number of us were given all we wanted, and even most times our thoughts were being done for us. We played little or no part in our growth and preparation for the life ahead. It is of truth this wasn't in any way our faults and we couldn't have known somethings all by ourselves, we needed to be taught what it is we need to do and how to go about doing those things when they eventually show up, and when we talk about show up, it isn't necessarily at the moment when we were being taught.

Some are live-long principles and lessons. To be honest, if we all had had the opportunity to be taught about the most challenges or situations that weigh us down today it would just have been a piece of cake. Life they say gives to you what you so give to it. Living a successful life has more to do with our inputs. I had a lot of thoughts going through my mind while writing this piece. I thought of the fact that if i was taught about some life principles and lessons maybe i wouldn't be where i am today or facing what i faced. So i came up with 5 crucial life lessons and principles that must be taught about life to a child in the early stages of their life. There are a lot more than this but i thought about these five crucial ones.

The first lesson about life that's needed to be taught to a child at an early stage in life is: Life isn't a bed of roses. This i believe should be the very first lesson and principle that a child needs, as a child we tend to get all we need at ease, once we ask, our parents are being forced to get a way of providing that which we want, even before we started saying out our words, when we cry like a baby, and when we scream out "bla bla bla", our parents tend to pick up the frequency of that and they try their best to figure out what we want, now i'm thinking "What a life of ease." A child must be taught at the point when they can differentiate between their left from the right that life isn't a bed of roses, things don't come to you easily as you think or desire, it is most times not smooth to thread, there are a lot of ups and downs in the journey of life and as a child growing to an adult they must know what to do at certain levels and points of life.

The second lesson or principle is: There is always a need for God in a man's life, whatever the word "God" means to you, they must know at an early stage that they need God to go through this life journey successfully. It is not a contention that we didn't fall from the sky, we were all created by God, therefore, a man created by God should live a life with God. A child must be taught whenever he is faced with the challenges of life the next thing to do is to communicate with God for a solution or advice. A child must be trained in the ways of the Lord, this is one of the lessons and principles that must be taught to a child at an early stage.

The third lesson is: Been good doesn't stop you from getting hurt by people. Life is filled with different people from different races and backgrounds, millions of attitudes, beliefs, and characters are embodied in different humans and the truth of the matter is we can't co-exist all by ourselves. We need people and the blurry part of it all is you don't tend to dictate the type of person you come across on a daily basis, so they must be taught to be prepared to face other millions of people and more so, the fact that they with a good heart doesn't mean they wouldn't be hurt by their replica.

The fourth lesson about life that must be taught is that in life we can achieve all that we want to achieve if we engage our minds rightly. A child must be taught that the mind is capable of doing the unexpected. The mind is capable of bringing to pass whatever our heart desires. The empire of the future they say is the empire of the mind, they must be taught that with a right mind a man is said to be unstoppable. I say openly that the mind is faster than the speed of light. You can picture where you want to be in the next 60 years right from where you are and not only that it will give you whatever you want right in that picture. The power of the mind can't be overemphasized and should be taught to a child at the early stages of their life.

Financial literacy which is the fifth lesson and principle has a huge impact and role to play in a man's life and should be taught early, we all can't do without money till our deaths, money, money the word we hear every single day, spending wisely should be the order of the day and of course living inheritance and a life worth living for the generations to come should and must be the goal.

Teach all these to a child at the early stages of their life and you will see the profound change in our families, communities, societies, and the world at large.
