5 Family-Friendly Music Festivals in Great Britain

There are lots of family-friendly music festivals to choose from. Here are some that you can attend this summer.

Camp Bestival, England

We can’t think of a better event to kickstart our list of family-friendly festivals. There are two locations, Lulworth Castle in Dorset (28-21st July) and Weston Park in Shropshire (18-21st August), depending on where you’re willing to travel. Either way, expect a weekend full of carnival parties, live music, and fireworks on rolling fields of green grass.

Camp Bestival was named the Best Family Festival in 2019, and it looks like things are only going to get better this year. Each festival has something for everyone, with performances from Mr Tumble and Sister Sledge, as well as Sarah Cox and Horrible Histories – Terrible Tudors. So it’s safe to say the whole family will have the time of their lives!

The entrance fees are similar for each festival. Weston Park is a little cheaper, with adult weekend tickets being £190 and children weekend tickets ranging between £75-140. Lulworth Castle weekend tickets are £220 per adult and between £82.50-147.50 for children. And infants aged one and under are able to attend both festivals for free!

Doune the Rabbit Hole, Scotland

If you’re ready for a long weekend in the Scottish countryside, Doune the Rabbit Hole (14-17th July) is the ideal festival for you and your family. There are loads of activities to enjoy, such as relaxing yoga sessions and live performances from Patti Smith and The Bluebells.

Doune the Rabbit Hole also has a Family Field, packed with pastimes that are perfect for children of all ages. So if your little ones enjoy listening to imaginative stories, crafting their own colourful kites, or eating in a mud kitchen, this is the place to be.

You can buy weekend camping tickets until 13th July or pay admission on arrival. The tickets cost £185 for adults in advance and £195 on the gate, £87.50 for teenagers between 13-17-yeards-old, and are completely free for children 12-years-old and under. Children also receive a 50% discount on the Doune bus and 25% on taxi tickets.

Deer Shed Festival, England

Deer Shed Festival (29-31st July) is made with the whole family in mind. Nestled in the North Yorkshire countryside, children and adults can spend a weekend relaxing on the green fields of Baldersby Park. You’ll get to dance to songs by renowned artists, such as Alfa Mist.

Just like any festival, you can never guarantee perfect weather. To make sure the Yorkshire rain can’t get you down, remember to pack your favourite girl’s and boy’s waterproof jackets, as well as wellies and an umbrella or two. Then, come rain or shine, you can dance to the beat of the drum.

It’ll cost £180 to grab an adult weekend ticket, £70 for teenagers between 11-15, £60 for children between 6-10, and £30 for little ones between 3-5. Infants aged two and below attend for free, although you still need to order them a ticket. Service change does apply, and you might pay more the closer the festival gets, so don’t wait to buy your tickets.

Big Festival, England

It doesn’t get any better than Big Festival (26th-28th August), the perfect family-friendly festival in the Cotswolds. You can look forward to seeing a number of musicians, including Anne-Marie, Stereophonics, and Basement Jaxx, as well as some of the acclaimed chefs, such as Clare Smyth and Ravneet Gill.

There is also a family-friendly lineup, meaning that everyone has something to look forward to. Children can visit the Cotswold Farm Park, watch performances by Justin Fletcher (Mr Tumbles), and listen to CBeebies Bedtime Stories as night approaches.

To attend for the whole weekend and also camp, tickets are £222.50 for adults, £136.50 for teenagers between 13-17, and £57 for children aged 12 and under. If you just want to go for one day, you can book up to two children’s tickets for free.

Green Man, Wales

Last and certainly not least, Green Man (18th-21st August) is an eclectic festival in the mountain ranges of Brecon Beacons. If you want to spend the weekend surrounded by breath-taking scenery, listening to world-class music from Beach House, Low, and Bicep, this is the next summer destination for your whole family.

Green Man has an area especially for children, named Little Folk, filled with wholesome activities and their own Children’s Parade on Sunday. There’s also a camping area specifically for families so that you can sleep soundly through the night.

This is one of the best festivals of the year, so we’re not surprised that tickets on the official website have sold out. Don’t worry though, you can still find tickets online through third-party websites, although there is a surge in ticket prices.

There’s a family-friendly festival out there for you, whether you’re ready to travel across the nation or not. Make sure you buy your tickets and prepare for a weekend of fun, packing enough clothes and children’s essentials. And don’t forget a pair of wellies!
