Will Kotlin overtake Java in the upcoming years

Many IT experts and developers began to doubt the future of Android Java when Google declared official support for Kotlin, and there are several explanations for that. Android developers are tired of device failures, memory leaks and bugs. The speed of the modification of mobile technology also leaves little space for verbosity and ceremony. Less code and shorter development time are what we need, and that is where Kotlin comes in handy.

What is Kotlin

Kotlin is a general-purpose, statically typed programming language with type inference. It is widely used for Android device creation. Kotlin is designed to completely interface with Java, and its standard library’s JVM version is based on the Java Class Library, but type inference makes its syntax more concise. Kotlin targets the JVM primarily, but compiles into JavaScript or native code as well. JetBrains and Google, through the Kotlin Foundation, are funded by Kotlin.

Why did Kotlin love Google?

Google revealed in May last year at the I/O 2017 Developers Conference that Kotlin will be an officially supported Android language. It would enter the list of existing programming languages such as Java and C++, used for Android app development.

‘Googlers’ do not hesitate to describe this language as amazing and succinct, opening up more possibilities and enjoying working with them. On average, the programming code is 40 percent shorter than in other languages, and Kotlin helps you to prevent such code errors. One of the defining factors behind Google’s success with Kotlin is that it is compatible with Java, which is already used in the development of Android applications. There are many Kotlin training institutes in Kochi available to increase our Kotlin talent so that we could understand each concept better.

Benefits of Kotlin

Kotlin solves today’s issues faced by working programmers.

The amount of code. You don’t need to use archaic pieces of code that speed up the process of creation and enhance readability.

Kotlin doesn’t cost anything to adopt. There is a high quality, one-click converter tool for Java to Kotlin, and a strong emphasis on binary compatibility for Java.

You can migrate one file at a time to an existing Java project, and it will still be compiled, including for complex programmers running up to millions of lines of code.

Compatibility with Java. This is convenient both for learning a new language, and for transferring your software products from Java to Kotlin.

Security. The rules of the syntax of the language make it possible to avoid small, difficult-to-trace errors;

In conclusion, it should be noted that the adoption of Kotlin is exploding-the number of applications. Using Kotlin has increased by 125% on Google’s heels, officially making Kotlin a first-class language for writing Android applications at Google I/O in May.

Kotlin is gaining popularity at a tremendous pace among Android developers. For example, Kotlin used 7.4% of developers in May 2017, before the Google I/O conference, and this figure had doubled to 14.7% by the end of September 2017. Based on the latest data, if these rates continue to rise at the same pace, Kotlin’s share will make 51 percent of the market by December 2018, that is, Java will lose its leadership and Kotlin will overtake Java in December 2018, 17 months after Google declared official support for Google I/O. In contrast, it took 14 months for Swift to reach the same milestone versus Objective C for iOS app deployment.

We can understand better and learn more only if we are on the right track. For that soul purpose there are various android training institutes in Kochi or in another major cities to help you out. So start building your career in the right way.
