There are several fundraising platforms that help with fundraising in India. One of such fundraising platfoms is HoSh (Hope to Shine) is one of World Vision India’s fundraising platforms to raise funds for children and families living in need and poverty.

As one of the best fundraising platforms, HoSh enables many donors to contribute to one need according to their ability.

HoSh has a unique reporting mechanism where you, as a donor, will know how your gift has benefited the person. And what’s more? The ‘Start My Fundraiser’ helps you to choose a particular need, design your own campaign and raise funds for that need through your friends and by sharing on your social network.

This crowdfunding fundraising platforms has helped thousands of children, their families and communities break the cycle of poverty in their lives through fundraising in India

In a small town of Bardhaman, West Bengal, children are now flocking to their local government school, instead of attending private schools. This trend has been going on for a while now, ever since their school transformed into an ‘adarsh’ (ideal) school. The school has won awards at the District, State and National level for being a model school.

Subir Kumar has been the headmaster of this school since 2011. After his appointment, he tried very hard to make changes in the infrastructure, but because of the low enrollment (just 60 students) at the time, they were not getting adequate support.

He tells us, “Earlier this school was just five rooms in which we taught six grades. The infrastructure of the school was also bad. The walls had no plaster, there was no entrance, no windows or doors. Our children would sit on the floor and the attendance was also very low,” says Subir Kumar.

After donations came in through fundraising in India, the school has a huge change.

“Our school has totally transformed now. In 2011 the enrolment was only 60 children, but this has now increased to 260 children from grades fifth to tenth,” says Ashok Kumar, assistant headmaster.

Through a partnership with World Vision India, the overall infrastructure of the school has greatly improved. The school now has benches in all the classrooms, water purification units, a soak pit and drain, sitting chairs for different purposes, a children’s park that includes swings, slides and other recreation and play materials for sports.

Apart from this wall painting with messages of nutrition and handwashing were done throughout the school, dustbins were installed, books were added to the library, cupboards were provided to store important documents, the girls’ toilet was renovated and a roof top vegetable garden was also started. The school now plants seasonal flowers and fruits to teach children their importance.

To strengthen the school health programme, health check-ups were done to check for anaemia and educate children on their own blood groups. Other medical equipment was also provided like stethoscopes, BP machine, weighing machine, among others to monitor the health of the students. Several trainings on how to prepare nutritious food, health, hygiene, handwashing, and on adolescence and menstrual health management was also conducted for students.

Through fundraising platforms, you not only make a donation for child education, you rewrite the destiny of a child. Quality education makes a world of a difference.
